What is it?
1.What is academic English? 'academic English' and is the type of English you need for reading and understanding
your study materials and writing about your subject. Academic English is different from everyday spoken English. It
may be used to describe an object or situation describe a process or how something works or explain something.
Much of academic English is about expressing the relationship between ideas.
2.What is academic writing? Academic writing is clear, concise, focused, structured and backed up by evidence. Its purpose is to
aid the reader's understanding. It has a formal tone and style, but it is not complex and does not require the use of long sentences and complicated
vocabulary.

3.What are the general characteristics of academic writing? Characteristics of academic writing include a formal tone, use of the
third-person rather than first-person perspective (usually), a clear focus on the research problem under investigation, and precise
word choice

I would critique this one using the sociological approach since its about the happenings in the

society. It focuses on the values and happenings in the society and how it affects the society. the
lack of humanity and compassion toward frontliners and patients is really evident in the society and

with that I can say that is can be critic through sociological approach.

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED

1.how can we unite if people will see things in different perspectives?

If you are generalizing the idea of uniting people, then the best way would be to make them understand that all

five fingers cannot have same lengths. People can always debate on their views, but the key to the unity thing is

to respect everyone’s opinion. Listen to the whole point of a person’s view without interrupting. Interpret the

right meaning of what the person is trying to say. Be democratic. Lastly, assure that no one is carrying personal

grudges to the room.
