the ability in students a ‘Text’ has been introduced in this course. Stress is also given on
vocabulary building and grammar.

COURSE OUTCOMES:
At the end of the course students will be able to:
1) Develop comprehending abilities.
2) Interpret the ideas given in seen and unseen passages.
3) Apply rules of grammar for productive skills.
4) Articulate ideas effectively in English.
5) Demonstrate interest and appreciate literature.
6) Foster a significant expansion of vocabulary.

1 Fluency of speech Evaluation should be conducted by asking the
questions on the essays of the textbook ‘Spectrum’
in English.
2 Use of grammar Examiners should check the grammatical
construction in the answers given by the students.
3 Listening comprehension Examiners should also check the conversational and
the comprehension level of the students by giving the
25
topics for conversation to a group of students.
4 Pronunciation Examiners should give sufficient stress on the
pronunciation of the students.
5 Appropriate use of Examiners should observe the vocabulary of the
vocabulary students. It is important to know whether the students
are using the appropriate and the variety of words
rather than repeating the same words.

Note : The internal examiners should give the prior information to the students about the above
mentioned norms of the oral examination.
