Entrepreneurial Leadership in An Organization: Review Questions
Entrepreneurial Leadership in An Organization: Review Questions
2. How does dialogue differ from discussion? Give an example of each from your
experience.
- Dialogue is more structured than conversation, but less structured than discussion
or debate. Dialogue engages people in building their understanding of an issue,
without the pressure to make decisions or be "right." People inquire into ideas,
rather than advocate for their own or others' ideas.
3. Some senior executives believe they should rely on written information and computer
reports because these yield more accurate data than face-to-face communications do.
Do you agree? Discuss.
- Yes, I agree, this is a big help so that the listener can better understand his report.
The visual report especially is also important in the data reports that need to be
given attention. It is also easier for the audience to understand because what you
are reporting is documented.
5. How might leaders use social media to create a sense of community among employees?
What do you think are some advantages and disadvantages of a company using social
media to communicate with employees?
- These tools could provide a means of information sharing and gathering that was
simply not possible, or simply not as efficient, as other corporate tools. And when
managed properly, these communication methods can also provide a competitive
advantage to the organization. Social media has a great potential to create a sense
of community and affirmation for employees, business partners, and others in
virtually any organization. This lends credence to the notion that enterprise social
software and services would become a large market.
