Brief Description of Project (200 words):

Así Vamos en Salud is a public health observatory that analyzes and disseminates specialized information to produce health knowledge
from a collective effort of organizations interested in the superior goal of better health for all Colombians. The observatory is independent
of the particular interests of the sectoral stakeholders, defends its own position on relevant issues and maintains a permanent commitment
to the effective and responsible exercise of the right to health of Colombians.

Its fundamental purpose is to contribute to the improvement of the health, as well as, to promote in the citizens the effective exercise of
their rights and duties in health through the improvement of the information available from monitoring, objective evaluation and
dissemination of this results; and on the other hand, promote the monitoring and analysis of health policies in Colombia.

STATEMENT OF LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Job Competencies and Skills Development:

Through this rotation, the student will develop competencies such as search and analysis of health information from relevant
information sources, and will be able to make analysis of public policies. It is also expected to develop competencies such as
team work, intersectoral work and interaction with stakeholders from health sector.

Career Exploration:

Así Vamos en Salud is a favorable scenario for health professionals in training acquire technical public health tools by working
in the three strategic components of the program such as monitoring and evaluation from health indicators, monitoring and
evaluation of public policies and the third one, communications component.

It is expected that, at the end of the rotation, the student has developed technical skills such as search and analysis of
information and writing of technical public policy documents, in addition to develop skills such as teamwork and
communication.

DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED FIELD ACTIVITIES and PRODUCTS


PROPOSED FIELD ACTIVITIES:

1. Identify and analyze the main health problems of the Colombian population from the construction of the Así Vamos en Salud
Index, identifying information sources and consolidating information and data to this purpose, disaggregated by regions.
2. Identify and analyze the social response in health by monitoring of public policies within the context of the Colombian health
system.
3. Interact with different actors and stakeholders from the health system within a context of advocacy and intersectoral work.

PRODUCTS:

1. Document with the analysis of Así Vamos en Salud index, disaggregated by regions.
2. Document with the consolidation and analysis of public health policies in accordance with the guidelines established by Así
Vamos en Salud.
3. Participate in events, work meetings and forums organized by Así Vamos en Salud.

PROPOSED PATTERNS OF INTERACTION and CONTACT

 Student and field preceptor - Daily contact between student and field preceptor will be maintained throughout
the internship. If the need arises, weekly meetings can also be scheduled.

 Student and faculty advisor - Student will initiate contact with advisor. Student will arrange contact between
advisor and field preceptor between 2nd and 3rd weeks of internship. Student will also maintain email contact (and
phone contact if necessary) with advisor for monitoring purposes.
 Student and career services coordinator - Student will update career services coordinator of internship status.
Career services coordinator will keep track of the quality of the internship experience and should be contact if issues
arise.

 Faculty advisor and field preceptor - Student will initiate contact between faculty advisor and preceptor between
2nd and 3rd weeks of internship. Contact between faculty advisor and preceptor will be maintained as needed throughout
the internship.

1. Student evaluation of internship


2. Preceptor evaluation of student and internship experience
3. Participation in Internship Workshop as well as presentation slides that outline summer experience
