Teaching as a Vocation and Mission

The Humanizing Mission of Teaching


1. Read this letter given by a private school principal to her teachers on the first
day of a new school year. It may make your humanizing mission in teaching
crystal clear:
Dear Teacher:
I am a survivor of a concentration camp.
My eyes saw what no man should witness:
 Gas chambers built by learned engineers.
 Children poisoned by educated physicians.
 Infants killed by trained nurses.
 Women and babies shot and burned by high school and college
graduates.
So I am suspicious of education.
My request is: Help your students become human
Your efforts must never produce learned monsters,
Skilled psychopaths, and * Eichmanns.
Reading, writing, arithmetic are important only if they serve to make our children
more human.

Explain your mission as a professional teacher by helping children become more


human.
As a teacher it is my mission to improve to provide and deliver a best quality
of education to my students. Help them to become knowledgeable and skillful. I
want to assure that they grow productive. For me, seeing them that reaching their
dream is such an overwhelming. I want them to become successful and build a
brighter future. That is my mission, for them to succeed.

Life true calling is to help and serve our purpose. Every profession is a life
calling and it is our choice and personal freedom to choose our calling. I believe
that this calling is based on our own prejudice and we are the one who are making
our own path to future. For me teaching is my calling. I want to teach and serve
other people, Educate and give them the right for correct information.
