 INTRODUCTION

“Portal” is the web system that provides the function and features to authenticate and identify
the users and provide them with an easy, intuitive, personalised and user customizable web
interface for facilitating access to information and services that are of primary relevance and
interests to the users.
Student portal is nothing but a portal which thinks students as the main target users and
provides so many useful services to students at a single place and through a single interface
but in customize form.
The system is designed for the students, it contains an admin who can enter details of
students. Students can then login using provided user id password and edit their profile
details. Students also det a student helpdesk to assist them and a download page where
students may download from the web system.
It tracks all the details of a student from the day one to the end of the course which can be
used for all the reporting, tracking of attendance, progress in the course, completed semesters,
upcoming semester year curriculum details, exam details, project or any other assignment
details.

 LITERATURE REVIEW

This study examined students satisfaction with web portals and considers the benefits of
using the portal and the problems associated with the use of current portal. A pure
quantitative method using descriptive survey approach is adopted. A question answer round
was used for data collection. Collected data was analysed using percentages and frequency
count. The results were some were partially satisfied and some were not happy with it
because of lack of updation and some features which should be provided. Information/content
quality, system quality, and ease of use were indicated to determine users’ satisfaction.
Furthermore, the entire user satisfaction dimensions positively and significantly correlate
with and predict students’ satisfaction with the web-portal. The study concluded by pointing
out the implications and the recommendations based on the findings for the improvement of
the students web portal.

Objectives:-
Our main objective/purpose of this site is to provide the user friendly interface to the
students.

Advantages of Student Portal:-

 Managing student information.
 Academic advising for continuous improvement.
 Hassle free recruitment/enrolment processes.
 Reduce redundant human errors.

GOAL:-
Our goal is to make a free user environment for every student to get their information. Help
students to get their marks, assignments, projects etc.

REQUIREMENTS:-

● Processor Speed 2.70 GHz
● Hard Disk 2 GB and above
● RAM 512 MB and above

 METHODOLOGY

The word student portal pretty much speaks for itself. It is about to help student to be updated
about the activities or its performance.

HOME PAGE
The home page of the student college portal contains :-
 Home Gallery :- The pictures of the events and various activities will be stored here.
 Schedule :- Contains the time table of the particular day.
 Assignment :- Issued assignment and tutorial available here.
 Study Material :- Contains the notes and previous year paper provided by the
faculty.
 Attendance :- Contains the attendance of the student of particular day.
 Events :- Contains the information of the various competition.
 Club Activities :- Contains the information about the club belonging to different
branches.
 Notice / Circulars :- Information and news regarding college will be shown here.
 Complaint Box :- The complaint faced by the students will be directed to the
administrator.
 Help :- Step by step manual of the how the website work will be descripted here.

Student portal can perform :-

 Enable student to get updated. 

 Help student to consider new ideas. 

 Encourage active participation.

 Encourage use of technology. 

 Encourage cooperation between students.

 TECNOLOGY USED

Web Development:-
Web development refers to the building, creating, and maintaining of websites. It includes aspects
such as web design, web publishing, web programming, and database management. It is the
creation of an application that works over the internet i.e. websites.
The word Web Development is made up of two words, that is:

 Web: It refers to websites, web pages or anything that works over the internet.
 Development: Building the application from scratch.

Web Development can be classified into two ways:

 Frontend Development
 Backend Development

Frontend Development: The part of a website that the user interacts directly is termed as
front end. It is also referred to as the ‘client side’ of the application.

Backend Development:  Backend is the server side of a website. It is the part of the
website that users cannot see and interact. It is the portion of software that does not come in
direct contact with the users. It is used to store and arrange data.

HTML: - HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. It is used to design web pages

using a markup language. HTML is the combination of Hypertext and Markup language.
Hypertext defines the link between the web pages. A markup language is used to define the text
document within tag which defines the structure of web pages.
HTML is a markup language that is used by the browser to manipulate text, images, and other
content to display in the required format.

CSS:- CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is a stylesheet language used to design the webpage to
make it attractive. The reason of using CSS is to simplify the process of making web pages
presentable. CSS allows you to apply styles to web pages. More importantly, CSS enables you
to do this independent of the HTML that makes up each web page.
There are three types of CSS which are given below:
 Inline CSS
 Internal or Embedded CSS
 External CSS
 
JavaScript:- JavaScript is the world most popular lightweight, interpreted compiled
programming language. It is also known as scripting language for web pages. It is well-
known for the development of web pages, many non-browser environments also use it.
JavaScript can be used for Client-side developments as well as Server-side developments.
