LITERATURE (FOREIGN)

Virtual classroom teachers have many of the same challenges as traditional classroom teachers
in developing course content, arranging the course, teaching the content, and ensuring that students
learn. As indicated by Riegel & Kozen (2016), society progresses into the twenty-first century and
focuses on globalization, current and future learners will be required to achieve a new set of
requirements that are considered as quality indicators and necessary characteristics for future success.
These requirements are referred to as 21st century skills by the National Education Association (2014),
which states that studying the three Rs or reading, writing, and arithmetic in the modern world will not
be sufficient for students to be attractive, hirable, and employable in the world of tomorrow. They must
improve their skills in the "Four Cs," which include communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and
problem solving, and creativity. Although the National Education Association (2014) emphasizes the
importance of completely integrating the "Four Cs" into schools (p. 6), it is less obvious how these
abilities may be attained in an online setting such as a virtual classroom. Because the rate of expansion
of online programs is likely to continue, Howell, Williams, & Lindsay (2003) discovered that teachers can
use various digital resources to integrate each skill. This information is relevant to the present
undertaking because it addresses teaching and learning the four quality indicators within a virtual
classroom.
