The Importance of Sexual Health Education for Students

Introduction
Sexuality is a natural and very valuable aspect of life, a very important and fundamental part
of human life. Youth sexual health education in Indonesia is still a debate until now. Sexual
health is one of the important issues that need serious attention in Indonesia. There is ample
evidence that young people in Indonesia still lack knowledge about sexual health.

Body Paragraph 1
Schools play a major role in education about sexual health.  Sexual health is important to be
taught in schools, because students can understand in more detail about the good and bad
things about sexuality. However, in schools there are often cases of sexual violence between
one student and another, or between a student and a teacher. As was the case recently in
Indonesia where a teacher committed violence and sexual acts against a student that caused
the student to become pregnant.  This has hampered sexual education in schools.

Body Paragraph 2
The role of parents and the environment is also very important to teach about the importance
of sexual rest, because parents are the first teachers for their children. Therefore, parental
guidance is very important to build character and direct their children to sort out what is
good and bad, especially in the context of sexual relations. Presence of parents through
effective communication and appropriate parenting is expected to overcome risky sexual
behavior in adolescents. Students who receive authoritarian and permissive parenting are
more at risk of high-risk behavior compared to students who receive
authoritative/democratic parenting. But some parents still have poor communication with
their children so that children are less open, besides that parents also still rely on sexual
education from school. The occurrence of sexual deviations and promiscuity can also occur
because parents are too busy and pay less attention to their children's association. Free
association will build the character of children who are not good and are not healthy for
children's development.

Conclusion
By providing sexual health education to students, it can make them understand about these
things. The lack of understanding about sex makes promiscuity rampant among students. On
the other hand, health education is important for parents to teach their children. This is
because a lack of understanding about sex can have a negative impact on a child's future.
