Title: “Challenges and derived solutions for the local car service providers of Ranchi area in India.”
Problem brief:
I have always seen on a practical level, the environment surrounding the local car service providers at my
native place in India. The challenges they face due to the big brand giants in Car sector (retail and
service). They have accepted to be limited to the cheap service option for the people despite their skills
and experience. The problem lies that they do not have the marketing or branding skill starting from the
ground level; hence they lack behind, and their business depends only on good word of mouth, that too if
the service is exceptional and cheap. Their services include car cleaning, tires changing, car servicing, car
elecro-mechanical works & others. They depend on the hefty priced local suppliers for spare parts and
thus have to keep their service charge minimal and the service near to perfect. The local people also have
to depend on the big names for servicing after their free car services are done. The parts are expensive
and to get a reliable service they need to go the brand service. This happens as not much people are aware
of the local car service providers efficiency, hard-work and ground-level experience. Some of the best
ones have joined these car corporate service providers on salaries after experiencing less revenue on their
small business as a car service provider. The business growth either halted or stopped altogether.
Solution Brief:
I have a plan to form a small organization of 5-10 people to initiate with and help the local car service
providers reach out and scale their networks high in not only Ranchi but also other regions in the state as
there are highways nearby. This organization will help them market their service, train them on business
ideas and revenue models. We will do partnerships with them on the service profit and help them garner
more customers. Help them become a local brand through social media, reasonable service rates, with
procurement and logistics. We also plan to have an App for the app-based booking; This app will be
pretty straightforward so that even the less educated car mechanics understand it.
Objectives:
1) Making and reforming the business culture in my locality Ranchi for local and small car service
providers to grow together.
2) Having a low investment business idea with benefit for all stakeholders.
3) Making the car service providers understand the use of technology starting from a user-friendly
app version.
4) To garner stable revenue through marketing and local branding
5) To help stakeholders and small businesses understand how big brands and small start-ups or
existing small businesses co-exist in a locality.
6) To help the community with a moral structure in mind to support the local people. (Ethical)
