TCS is one of the operative subsidiary of one of India's largest and oldest conglomerate
company, the Tata Group or Tata Sons Limited, which has interests in areas such as energy,
telecommunications, financial services, manufacturing, chemicals, engineering, materials,
government and healthcare.
In 1975 through its acquisition of a hotel in Chennai , the company launched its hotel business
with name 'ITC-Welcomgroup Hotel Chola'.
In 1990 ITC set up the Agri Business Division for export of agri-commodities based on
partnership with farmers, for revolutionizing the rural agricultural sector.
In 2000, ITC launched a line of greeting cards under the brand name ‘Expressions’. There has
been further extension in productline with introduction of gift wrappers, autograph books slam
books and stationery.
In 2000, it entered in lifestyle retailing business with the Wills Sport, a range of international
quality wear for men and women.
ITC InfoTech India was set up in 2000 to provide outsourcing solutions to manufacturing, BFSI
(Banking, Financial Services & Insurance), CPG&R (Consumer Packaged Goods & Retail),
THT (Travel, Hospitality and Transportation) and media & entertainment.
ITC entered food business in 2001, its product line in this segment consist of brands 'Kitchens
of India', ‘Aashirvaad atta’, ‘Candyman’, ‘Sunfeast’ & ‘Bingo!’.
In 2002 it entered in marketing of Agarbattis & matches, creating brands like Mangaldeep,
Spriha, Aim Metro and so on.
ITC created brands Essenza Di Wills, in July 2007 a product line of fragrances & body care
product. As an extension to its productline, it launched 'Fiama Di Wills', 'Superia', & Vivel De
Wills
Awards/Achievements:
ITC has won 'World Business Award', global recognisation for significant efforts to create
sustainable livelihood opportunities and enduring wealth in developing countries.
It won the Golden Peacock Awards for 'Corporate Social Responsibility (Asia)' in 2007,
ITC is the first Corporate to receive the Annual FICCI Outstanding Vision Corporate Triple
Impact Award in 2007 for its contribution in building economic, social and natural capital for
the nation
ITC is one of the eight Indian companies to figure in Forbes A-List for 2004, featuring 400 of
'the world's best big companies'.
ITC has a range of diversified product in its portfolio. Recently ITC commissioned a 14 MW
wind power project in Tamil Nadu whose output would be used to meet energy requirement at its
packaging and printing plant in the state, having an investment of about Rs.90 crore.
The Indian FMCG sector is the fourth largest sector in the economy. According to analysis
conducted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham), Fast
Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector will witness more than 50 per cent growth in rural and
semi-urban India by 2010.In totality, it is projected to grow at a CAGR (compounded annual
growth rate) of 10 per cent and increase its market size to Rs 100,000 crore from the present
level of Rs 48,000 crore. Companies in the sector to benefit will include known names such as

The FMCG market is set to treble from $11.6 billion in 2003 to $33.4 billion in 2015.
Penetration level as well as per capita consumption in most product categories like jams,
toothpaste, skin care, hair wash, etc in India is low indicating the untapped market potential.
Companies present in FMCG segment like HUL, Dabur, ITC, Godrej & many more have
potential to acquire market share.

became India’s first formal trouser brand. Later it launched Bare, a jeans brand. In 1994 it
opened The Pantaloon Shoppe, a store in the franchise format exclusive for menswear. From
then company started the retail chain for branded garments.
Today Pantaloon Retail (India) is India’s leading retail chain and part of Indian conglomerate
Future Group. It operates retail space spread over 11 million square feet. It has a network of
more than 1000 stores across 63 cities in India and has employee strength of 30,000 people.

Fashion Under this it offers a wide range of fashion necessities to all segments of people. It has
created brands namely aLL, Big Bazaar, Blue Sky, Lee Cooper, Brand Factory, Central, Navaras,

Home solutions It also caters to the home furnishing segment through its retail outlets namely

It bagged the Indiastar Award for innovation in packaging for its label Fresh And Pure Chakki
Atta.
It was honoured as Gold Winner- Top retailer 2008 Asia Pacific by Retail Asia Publishing Pte,
for its development in retailing in Asia- Pacific Area.
It was awarded Most Admired Retailer of the Year at Coca-Cola Golden Spoon Awards 2008.
HomeTown, its home furnishing retail chain, was awarded Retailer of The Year in the category
of Home Products and Office Improvements at The Reid & Taylor Awards for Retail Excellence
2008.
Outlook
The Future Group plans to strengthen it brands in various categories like FMCG, household
consumer durables & electronics and apparel categories. This will lead to estimated earnings of
Rs.10,000 crore by 2012. It plans to create new brands in different categories that will generate
additional earnings.
