4A's Lesson Plan in Mathematics 7

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the Grade 7 students will be able to:

1. identify the rules of operations on integers;

2. relate integers involving operations on integers in real life application; and
3. solve problems using operations on integers.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Algebra (Operations on Integers)

Materials: visual aid,powerpoint

III. Lesson Proper

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

A. Routinary Activities

Good morning, class! Good morning, sir.

Okay, let us pray. Our Father ... Amen.

Before you take your seats, please pick

up any pieces of paper or trashes. (arrange chairs and pick up pieces of
Then, please arrange your chairs paper)
properly.

You may now take your seats. (take seats)

Class, may I know who are absent for

today? No one, sir

Very good! It only menas that you really

love my subject, Mathematics. So, let’s
give everybody a round of applause.

(clap hands)
Now, we will have another interesting
topic for today. But, before that, let’s
have first a simple exercise.

B. Motivation
Who wants prizes? (Everybody raise their hands)

Okay, so all of you want prizes. Well i

will give prizes for those who actively
participate in our activity.
In every mathematics problem we
always involve the four (4) basic
operations. So this time, we will master
that four basic operation by dancing it.
Are you familiar with that Mathematics (everybody prepare their self)
Dance Challenge. So everybody will
participate, lets dance the said dance
song.

Okay very good.

Lets give a round of applause to
everybody.

C. Activity

So, what have you observed on that

mathematics dance challenge? It emphasized the four basic operations
sir.
Yes, those are operations. But, it will
have something to do with our new
topic for this morning.

Today, you will learn how to compute

numbers with signs, the positive and
negative in operations.
So, we will discuss operations on
integers.
(read the words)
We will be having an activity. I will
divide you into four (4). Each group will
be given a flash cards with number
problems and corresponding letters.
Then, you will solve it as a group. After
you solve, the answers of the flash
cards must be arranged into lowest to
highest value so that you can get the
hidden word. But, how you will solve
the number problem? I will give you an (working together as groups)
envelope. Inside the envelope are the
rules on solving the problems. If you
form the hidden word you will receive a
rewards.

D.Analysis
Okay class, Time's up. The students will stop what they are
doing and sit properly.
So may i call each group's
representative to present their output /
findings.
(Group's representative come in front
and present their output)

Very good.Thank you everyone for your

cooperation. Let us give ourselves a
round of applause.

E.Abstraction
You all did great in our activity.
So now let us go to the discussion.

How did you get the answers on doing We consider the rules in solving
the activity? operations on integers.

okay, so what are the rules in adding In adding and subtracting integers with
and subtracting integers? like signs it yields to positive answer,
but if unlike signs it depends on the
greater value.

Okay !
Example:
4+6=10
5-2=3
(more example to present)

What about the rules in multiplying In multiplying integers we consider two

integers? (2) rules.
First: multiplying like signs the results is
always positive
Second: multiplying unlike signs the
product is always negative

Excellent!
(the teacher present examples)

Then, what about in dividing integers?

The same with multiplication,
Positive integer divide to another
positive the result is positive
Negative integer divide to another
negative the result is positive
Dividing unlike signs the result are
always negative
Very good!
(the teacher present examples)

E. Generalization

There are rules on getting the answers

in solving integers with signs in
different operations.

First is in addition. What would be the

result if a positive integer is being
added to a positive integer.
The answer is a positive integer.

If a negative integer is added with a

negative integer?
The answer is a negative integer.

That’s right! The sign will stay as it is.

What would be the answer if a positive
integer is being added to a negative
integer? The answer will depend on the bigger
integer.

In subtraction, this rule is the same with

addition.

In multiplication and division, they also

have the same rules.
Now,If both positive is being multiplied
and divided, the answer is? The answer is still positive.

If the factors have different signs?

If the dividend and divisor have
different signs?
The answer is a negative integer.

F. Application

Then, this integers won’t be nothing if

this is not applicable to reality. Integers
really help in keeping the world on
working.
Now, as a student, have you ever
encountered adding and subtracting
any value in your life? Have you
observed any signs in your
sorroundings?
(start guessing)

IV. Evaluation

Direction: In a 1/2 sheet of paper,

answer the following:

1. -8 + 20 =
2. 90 - 105 =
3. 50/-5 =
4. 6*10 =
5. -7*-300 =
6. -100/10 =
7. -5 + -2 =
8. -2 - 4 =
9. 0*-2 =
10. 34*-12 =

V. Assignment
Direction: Fill in the blanks.

1. ___ * - 40 = 80
2. 6 - ___ = -28
3. 45 / -9 = ___
4. -9 * -367 = ___
5. -2 + ___ = -78
