STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
I passed my graduation in Civil Engineering from RTMNU in 2013 and completed post-graduation in the
structures field from the same university in 2018. Now I am working as assistant professor at Govindrao
wanjari college of Engineering & technology Nagpur. While working in the teaching profession, these made
me interested in pursuing my studies further and do a doctorate from esteemed organisation like RCOEM
Nagpur.

I like to continue my research work in structural engineering, earthquake engineering for that I willing to study
on topic “Progressive collapse of building for long span”

Rapidly growing population and unavailability of floor area leads to the massive construction of high rise
buildings. These multistore building are more vulnerable to hazard due to the impact, seismic forces, accidents,
or any manmade causes like terrorist attack etc. So that cause should be considered while designing & analysis.
The term PC described conversion of local failure into the total structural failure. During sudden impact,
failure member in the structure redistribute a load to other adjacent member tends to the progressive collapse.
In order to prevent from this chaining connections must be designed to sustained potential redistribution of
impact forces and stop the impact failure chaining. These studies also helps the development of new structural
design procedures and assessment criteria to prevent failure or minimize damage due to unexpected extreme
hazards.

While talking about recent example of PC, Surfside condominium (Florida, US) collapse On Thursday, June
24, 2021. The Champlain Towers South building suddenly suffered a partial progressive collapse lasting less
than 12 seconds.

In my graduation years I worked on project named “Recycled aggregate concrete-An experimental

investigation”. During post-graduation my project is on “Soft story building Analysis” This project develop
interest in seismic design analysis.

All my academic credentials along with the co-scholastic activity achievements are enclosed with my
application.
