Background

In the wake of COVID-19, it was necessary for the company to adopt telecommuting in place of
face-to-face work mode ; aside from the government’s policy that facilitated outright lock down
of economic activities, it was important that we considered the health and safety of our
employees.
However, the policy of telecommuting comes with a lot of challenges that we need to put into
consideration before outright implementation.

One of the challenges of Work from Home policy is that it may expose the company to security
threat especially if staff may have to access company’s network and system1

Contrary to managerial paranoia, people generally want to be good at their job. To do that, many
need the support, collaboration, and friendship of colleagues, which is more difficult to foster
online.2 The isolation could lead to depression, demotivation and eventually cripple productivity.

Despite the general opinion that telecommuting will enhance work life balance, working from
home could be more demanding; it may be extremely difficult to separate work from leisure
time. There is consciousness that employee tend to be more relaxed while working from home
which may call for stringent execution policies and deadline. The absence of an obvious division
between the personal and professional realms means some remote workers get distracted by
housework3

It has been proven that working from home could increase job satisfaction, however, it is subject to the law of
diminishing returns. As remote work increases, job satisfaction increases; however, it only increases up to a certain
point (Golden & Veiga, 2005).

This proposal examines employees’ satisfaction about flexible working policy and provides
advice on the need to resume office. 12 questions are designed to assess the employee’s
satisfaction about flexible working policy. We are targeting 275 respondents from different
departments. The survey will be administered via SurveyMonkey and employees are expected to
