I. Change the following sentences into conditional sentence type 2 or 3

1. Tom does not ride the bus to work because it is very crowded.
: If it weren’t very crowded, Tom would ride the bus to work
2. Mary didn’t answer the phone because she was studying :
: If Mary weren’t been studying, she would have answered the phone
3. Because John never eats breakfast, he is hungry at nine o’clock.
: If he weren’t hungry at nine o’clock, He would eat breakfast
4. I didn’t know enough about the medicine, so I couldn’t mend it myself.
: If I know enough about the medicine, I would mend it myself
5. I have to stay at home because my leg is broken.
: If my leg hadn’t broken I would go outside

II. Change the following conditional sentence into the real sentence.
1. If I had had much money, I would have bought a new car.
: I didn’t have much money, so I didn’t buy a new car.
2. She would not give you a present if you were lazy
: She gives you a present because you are not lazy. 
3. If he had told me now, I would have helped him.
: I didnt help him because he didnt tell me.
4. I would have learnt how to play football if I had been you.
: I were not you, so I didn’t learn how to play football.
5. If the police caught him, he would spend at least five years in prison.
: He doesn’t spend five years in prison because the police don’t catch him.
