Statement of the Problem

The study aims to measure the effectiveness of the use of communicative language teaching

method in developing the speaking competence of Bachelor of Secondary Education students of

Batangas State University Rosario. Specifically, this intends to seek answers to the following

questions:

1. What is the profile of the respondents based on their;

1.1. Age;

1.2. Year Level; and

1.3. Major?

2. How may the respondents assess the effectiveness of communicative language teaching

in terms of:

2.1. CLT Activities and;

2.2. Developing speaking competence?

3. Is there a significant difference on the assessment when grouped according to the profile

variables?

4. What plan of action may be proposed to enhance the use of Communicative Language

Teaching Method on developing the student’s speaking competence?

We, the undersigned, are bonafide students of Batangas State University-Rosario and enrolled in
Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English who are at present working on a research
entitled “Effectiveness of Communicative Language Teaching Method in Developing
Speaking Competence of BSED Students of Batangas State University Rosario”.

In connection to this, we are humbly soliciting your permission to allow us to conduct a survey
with the randomly selected 168 students from different year level and major from your
department. Attached here is the sample questionnaire which will be used as a tool for our
survey.
