The article and the lecture both deal with the otter’s decrease population.

The writer
introduces the topic saying the reason of the otter's decline is due the pollution in the coast.
The lecturer disagrees, he says that the main reason to decrease is predation.

First, the reading passage states there are a pollution source at the Alaska coast and water
samples collected has shown increase levels of chemicals in the area. The lecturer believes that
the lack of otters in the beach is because the predators catch them and eats in another place,
far from the coast.

The author also claims that there are declines of other mammals in the area and the
environmental pollution affects more than one species. The lecturer believes there are flaws in
the author’s position. He contends that the orcas, begins to eat otters and other mammals due
the lack of whiles because humans hunts them.

Another reason why the author feels about the decreases of otters is because there are
uneven concentrated of pollutants along the coast. The professor in the listening passage is
doubtful that is accurate. He suggest that the location facilities the access of orcas. Populations
of otters in locations with rocks are stable.
