Abstract: The Caribbean region is part of World Energy Assessment region 6
(Central and South America). A fundamental task in the assessment is to map the
locations and type of production for existing oil and gas fields. The
Petroconsultants database is the only available database that has coverage for the
Caribbean region. Oil and gas field symbols represent field center-points and are
published with permission from Petroconsultants International Data Corporation,
2002 database.
Purpose: This dataset is intended to depict the general location and production
type of oil and gas fields in the Caribbean region as derived from the
Petroconsultants (2002) database.

Attribute_Accuracy_Report: The accuracy of the oil and gas field data,
including the locations of the fields, is wholly dependent upon the accuracy of the
data in the 2002 version of the Petroconsultants International database. For
purposes of mapping the Caribbean region, data were assumed to be accurate at a
scale of 1:2,670,000.
Logical_Consistency_Report: Information is limited to reporting in the
Petroconsultants (2002) database. A gas to oil ratio of 20,000 cubic feet to 1
barrel was used to determine predominate commodity production of a field. Nearly
all attributes omitted from dataset to protect proprietary nature of data.
Completeness_Report: Information is limited to reporting in the Petroconsultants
(2002) database. Small oil and gas fields may not be represented in the database.
No attempt was made to update database before its use.
