4) Faith and religion

Filipinos are known around the world as strong believers. They express this belief
throughout the year through:

(1)Advent, Lent, Easter and various "Fiestas" in honor of the patron saint and other
important church events

(2)Black Nazareth represents the suffering Christ carrying the cross.Only on three
dates during the year is the statue brought out of the shrine for veneration: Good
Friday, New Year’s Day, and January 9 or nine days after New Year following the
nine-day novena. Every Jan. 9 commemorates the image’s Translacion, a Spanish
term meaning “passage or “movement” when a procession is held with the image on
a wooden base peana being carried and brought around the streets of Manila on a
carroza called the andas pulled by the namamasan “bearers” with two large ropes on
the left and right shoulders. It is believed that the right shoulder side of the rope is
more sacred because it is where Jesus bore his cross. During the procession, a
marshal in a yellow and white shirt from Minor Basilica forms the Honorary Guard of
Black Nazareth. They are the only ones allowed to ride Andas, protecting the image
from damage, turning Namamasan forward, the crowd backwards, and believers
climbing Andas to see the image or easily on his cross. Responsible for helping to
touch, wipe towels and handkerchiefs thrown at them on any part of the photo that
seems to have gained the healing power.

(3) Another festival is the Sto. nino Festival in Cebu, locally known as "Fiesta Senor".
After Epiphany's solemn morning procession, a replica of Santo nino de Cebu is
unloaded and carried down the street. Followed by Novena's Mass for 9 days. On
the final day of Novena, there is another morning procession, during which a statue
of Nuestra Senor de Guadalupe de Cebu is carried from her shrine to the Basilica
Minore de Santo nino de Cebu, where she stays for a while. Both images will then
be taken at National Shrine of St. Joseph in Mandaue City, where the Holy Family
will meet again.

5) Filipino Hospitality
We Filipinos firmly believe that our country has the best values and qualities in the
world. Although we have been colonized by many countries, the core values of many
of our ancestors remain and are respected to this day. Filipinos aren't perfect, but
each of us has amazing qualities and qualities that we should be proud of.
"Hospitable"This is one of the most popular qualities of Filipinos.Foreigners traveling
to the Philippines fall in love with the warm hospitality they receive. For example:

(1) When a person visits a friend's house, the host greets him or her with a very warm
welcome. The host will immediately let their visitor sit down and will prepare a meal
or a snack plus drinks for the visitor. The host will insist that the friend not leave the
house with an empty stomach. A host will always make sure you had a great time
visiting them.

(2) the Best China. Especially in Filipino homes, women usually keep their best ones
in a cabinet. By the time a guest arrives, those kept will be used on the table to
impress the latter.
(3) Third, free tours. Innate as Pinoys, we would want to take any guest around… for
free! And lastly, in foods and festivals: Filipinos are food lovers, and they prepare a
lot during celebrations. During these days, they give a lot of food out to the
neighborhoods and keep an open – home policy. In a time when a tourist (especially
first timers) arrives, they treat them with their best native delicacies and favorite
foods.
Filipinos are hospitable,. This is never taught to man. The instinct to get your guests
to get the most out of them comes naturally from within.
