REFLECTION PAPER ON ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY OF HEART
The anatomy and physiology of the heart is a very interesting lecture that was
given to us, it is where you study the parts and functions of the heart, and you will
also know how the heart works. The heart is divided into 4 chambers, 2 atria and
2 ventricles from both left and right.
At first, I found it very boring to study the heart of a human being, but then as
time goes
by after reading more articles about it, it made me realize how wonderful our
heart is. Wherein our heart is the one that is responsible on pumping bloods to
the different parts of our body and different systems in our body. Without our
heart, our body wont function and will die because oxygen is what our body
needs, and heart is the one that gives oxygen to our body. I thought that our
respiratory system is the only one that oxygenates our body, but I was
dumbfounded after learning that heart is also responsible on delivering oxygen to
our body.
In conclusion, our heart is one of the most important part of our body to work,
without it we will die, our heart is giving us life and from the will of God. If our
heart is not functioning well, the rest of our body also won’t function very well.
REFLECTION PAPER ON HEART DISEASES
Heart diseases are one of the major health concerns across the entire world. Rich
and poor people are affected by heart diseases since the number one risk factor
on having a heart disease is from how we eat our foods and how we manage a
healthy lifestyle to have a healthy heart.
As one of the people that is at risk of having a heart disease, we should know first
what are the risk factors that may increase the chances of getting a heart disease.
Some of the greatest factors are high blood pressure, high cholesterol level,
unhealthy diet, and lack of exercise. Upon knowing the risk factors on getting the
heart disease, now we also must learn on how we manage ourselves to decrease
the chances of getting a heart disease which is what is high should be lowered
and what is lacking should be sustained. Since the risk factors are known, we must
sustain a healthy diet and maintain a healthy lifestyle wherein part of having a
healthy lifestyle is eating healthy foods and foods that is low on cholesterol like
oily foods and exercise daily.
In conclusion, we must take care of our heart by eating healthy foods just like
how we take care of our physical health. The burden on an individual having a
heart disease will take a toll on their lives, the quality of life should be maintained
and control or prevent getting the heart disease.
REFLECTION PAPER CORONARY ARTERY
Coronary artery is the one that delivers blood to the heart muscles and gives
nutrients to the heart muscles to function. Serious implications may occur if the
coronary arteries will have a disorder. Flow of oxygen and nutrients will be
imbalanced which leads to a heart attack and possibly death if won’t be
controlled as soon as possible.
CAD is a very common disease of the heart wherein people get this from their
genetic
hereditary. I was very interested in learning this lecture since from my bloodline
CAD is very common to us. As I learned that CAD will really take a toll on your
daily life because your heart won’t get enough oxygen that it needs that is caused
by lessened blood flow and may cause pain whenever you do an exercise. With
the blood flow lessened, it will also effect on how well our heart pumps and make
the rest of the body have less oxygen too which will cause more side effects to
our body that may give more risk to our body. Avoiding foods that may increase
the risk will help to lessen the chances of having a CAD.
In conclusion, our foods are one of the major causes of having the CAD, to have a
quality life, we also must maintain a healthy lifestyle and eat healthy foods too
much of something will cause a problem to your body.
REFLECTION PAPER ON INFLAMMATORY
Inflammation of the heart is not a common heart disease, so risk on having this is
also increased since people is not fully aware about this kind of disease. This
condition can affect small or large part of the heart which can hinder its function
to pump blood. If this may occur it can result in a heart failure.
As what I have learned from this lesson, this disease is a group of disease that
includes pericarditis, myocarditis, and endocarditis. So, what are the causes of
having IHD? It is Build-up of cholesterol. Then again, food consumptions are the
enemy. I learned that inflammation of the heart may also cause stroke and it is
very common diagnosis. IHD is treatable with the help of a specialist to give
medications and it also improve on its own. Foods that are fried and high on salt
are one of the common causes of heart inflammation.
In conclusion, healthy lifestyle, healthy diet, and daily exercise will all prevent you
from
having this disease, although it is not common, it may still occur to your body, and
you don’t want that to be having since some of the severe cases may cause a
permanent damage in the heart muscles.
REFLECTION PAPER ON VALVULAR
Valvular heart disease is when any valve in the heart has damage. There are 4
chambers in the heart right and left atria and ventricles. Although it is a rare
disease that people may have you will still be at risk on having a stroke. As what I
have learned, there are different types of valvular heart disease, Valvular stenosis
which Is the narrowing size of the valve opening and will restrict blood flow,
Valvular prolapse which is a condition where the valve flaps or leaflets slips out of
the place and form a bulge and Regurgitation which is leaking. This disease can be
very fatal if not treated. And for those who have this will have a risk in having
your valve repaired or be replaced through surgery. In conclusion, we should
know the risk factors on having a valvular heart disease and
what are the treatments possible and available that may return its normal
functions? Our heart is very sensitive, even though there are treatments that may
return its normal functions, we still must be careful. In the end it’s still a disorder.
REFLECTION PAPER ON DYSRHYTHMIAS
Dysrhythmia is an abnormal rhythm of the heart, nearly everyone has already
gone through having an abnormal heart rhythm at least once in their lifetime. It is
usually common and harmless but if it occurs persistently, they can also be
serious.
What I learned from this lesson is that abnormal rhythms are may be caused by
medications and your emotional state also play its role in having an abnormal
heart rhythm. Pacemaker is usually installed in the chest for this kind of disorder.
Having an irregular heart rhythm will resolve on its own but then again if it is
persistently occurring, they can be serious. If it becomes serious it will not be able
to pump oxygenated blood efficiently which can cause harm to the heart and the
rest of the body.
In conclusion, even though dysrhythmia is not deadly, it can still be a serious
problem if left untreated. Exercise will help to improve the heart rhythm but don’t
overextend yourself as it may also give an adverse effect to your heart.
REFLECTION PAPER ON HEART FAILURE
Heart failure also known as congestive heart failure occurs when the heart
muscles doesn’t pump enough blood like it should be. when this happens, blood
often backs up and fluid can build up in the lungs causing shortness of breath.
Heart failure is a serious condition, heart failure doesn’t mean that the heart has
stopped beating, it’s just that there is a disorder that is causing the heart failure.
As what I have learned from the topic, there are different types of heart failures
the left sided heart failure, which is the common type of heart failure, the right
sided heart failure wherein the right heart ventricle is responsible for pumping
blood to the lungs to collect oxygen, diastolic and systolic heart failure. The
common cause that can lead to heart failure is the CAD and high blood pressure
when you are diagnosed with one of these conditions, it is advised that you
manage yourself carefully to prevent the onset of heart failure. Heart failure is a
chronic disease that requires a lot of time and effort in treating it. With
treatments helped by the doctors the symptoms of heart failure may improve,
and the heart becomes stronger. Doctors can help treating the underlying causes,
one of them is the foods taken daily. Too much salt on foods may increase the risk
on getting a heart failure.
In conclusion, to prevent having a heart failure risk should be avoided. Prevention
is better than cure as what most people would say. Exercise can make the heart
stronger, with right diet may also help to lessen the onset heart failure. Taking
care of your heart is very important for us to be able to function well. Other
organs will also be at risk if you have a heart failure, organs like liver lungs and
lower abdomen will be affected.
