3. Overview of UBS process & guidance

Before applying to UBS, it is advisable that you read their campus website and watch the various videos, so you get a
deeper appreciation of the firm. The question, you should always ask yourself through the application process is

UBS’ whole application process will be assessing if you are a suitable candidate for the firm as well as if you resonate
with their values. It is imperative that you read about UBS culture and values as this will be continuously assessed
throughout the process as well as it will be good for you to read to see if their values and culture are suitable for you.

Ensure that you read the news, particularly articles related to UBS and UBS employees’ testimonials. This will give
you more of an insight into the culture of the firm and what the different roles entail, and help you understand what
UBS would want from you. You are also encouraged to learn more about the different opportunities that UBS have
to offer and to read more about their different career areas/divisions and how UBS supports their colleagues in
career development and opportunities.

UBS have an innovative recruitment process where they will assess your skills and potential through a series of
assessments and face-to-face interviews (no cover letters are required). UBS only accept one application per season
for any of their graduate, internship and spring opportunities and multiple applications to different
divisions/locations will not be accepted.

Read UBS’ 2020 Annual report as it will give you information on the firm, its business, governance and financial
performance. It contains both audited and non-audited information.

You can only apply to 1 programme at UBS.

Application Process:

The application process at UBS is made up of 4 stages and consists of the following:
 Candidates must apply directly to UBS using the specific SEO links that have been created and linked
above so that UBS know you are an SEO candidate and track your application.
 1st stage – Online application & CV
o UBS will ask you a few questions such as your academics, hobbies/skills interest etc.
o UBS will pay close attention to your application responses, so make sure you fill it in properly and
answer every question thoroughly and correctly.
 2 Stage – Online Assessments

o The online assessments will differ based on the programme role you have applied to

 Internship roles:
o Investment Banking roles: logical reasoning, numerical reasoning, and situational
judgement
o Non-banking roles: Verbal reasoning, logical reasoning, and situational judgment
o Logical reasoning is based on speed and accuracy and will be based on patterns
o Verbal reasoning is based on speed and accuracy with words
 Graduate roles:
o Numerical reasoning and situational judgment tests

3 Stage – Video interview
o If you are successful, you will be invited to this stage.
o It is timed interview where you will have time to read the question and answer
o It will have a few motivation/competency and technical questions depending on area. Each division
has questions specific to division you applied for.

4 Stage – AC (Virtual)

o The final interview will be more detailed and focused on assessing your compatibility with UBS in
your desired position.
o It will be assessing your motivations, commercial awareness, finance knowledge and business
knowledge using case studies
o More technical divisions will have more technical questions.

4. How to inform SEO London of your submitted application and its progress

SEO London provide support throughout the application process and can flag you across to UBS as one of our
candidates. To gain our support as you progress through the recruitment cycle you must do the following:
1. Complete the Application Tracker on your candidate portal – see example*
2. Upload the CV you used to your candidate portal (‘Edit Profile’ section) labelled as your Full Name – UBS
