WHERE DOES RAIN COME FROM

Once upon a time, there was a god who fell in love with a very beautiful goddess.
Habagat is the name of the god, and Ulan is the name of the goddess. Ulan also fell in love
with Habagat. They both adored each other dearly and promised to spend the rest of their
lives together in happiness.

Due to their strong love, Ulan and Habagat decided to finally wed each other. But
little do they know that Ulan’s father, Kidlat, is against their love and intends to break it and
separate them from one another. Fearing that they would be separated, Habagat and Ulan fled
to avoid the terror of Ulan's father. As they planned their escape, a Diwata suddenly appeared
and spoke to them, telling them that it was not safe for them to go and they must stop their
attempt to escape.

If they do not listen, an evil fate will meet the both of them. However, they ignored
Diwata's warning and continued with their plans, making the Diwata disappear out of
disappointment. During their escape, they stumbled upon a hidden place, making them think
that only they knew it existed. But they had no idea that Ulan's father had been following
them the entire time, giving him information on where they were hiding.

He intends to kill Habagat so he can finally get her daughter back home. He secretly
went towards them and when he was near enough, he directly stabbed Habagat near his heart
and killed him successfully. Joy rushed through his heart as he realized that his daughter
would never leave his side again. Ulan witnessed the cruel death of her lover. As her loved
one lay lifeless on the ground covered in blood, Ulan cried out in agony because of the pain
she felt inside her heart.

The Diwata showed up once more and said, "I warned you, but you didn’t listen."
Ulan expressed regret to Diwata and to her father. Her father brought Ulan back home,
believing that Ulan was already fine and had already forgotten Habagat. Ulan is in deep
sorrow and regret is filling her heart. One day, Ulan’s father was shocked when he found his
daughter dead in her own room and learned that she died of depression.

Ulan arrived in heaven and expecting that Habagat would be there as well. However,
the Diwata actually punished Habagat by sending him to a place known as "nowhere". In the
heavens, Ulan's world darkened once more. The Diwata made her tears to fall here on Earth
so that everyone could realize and experience her great sadness. Every time Ulan cries, her
tears dampen the earth, water the leaves of the forests, and increase the amount of water on
Earth.

After many years, the people decided to call those tears from Ulan "rain". So that
whenever it rains, people will know that Ulan is crying from the heavens, crying for
Habagat's name, hoping to be with him again as her tears continuously pour down to the
Earth.
