Description: Basic Electrical Engineering is the fundamental subject for Engineering and
Technology. It is very important that all the engineering students understand all the topic of basic
electrical engineering very well as no engineering work can possible without electric energy.
Normally this course offered to the first-year level of Engineering so all the modules are
explained in simplest easy and concise manner.
Depending on the new syllabus of MAKAUT, this course is divided into six modules. Various
physical phenomenon, laws in electrical engineering of each module will be described in very
simple language avoiding the strenuous of mathematics. Our prime focus of this book is that the
readers will realize the basic concept of electrical Engineering with joy and developed own skill
for further learning.
Proposed subject or topic area
Module 1(8 hours): DC Circuits- This module divide into two chapter,
Chapter 1 -Basic concept of electrical engineering: This chapter provides an idea of basic
electrical quantities, elements and various fundamental laws such as ohm’s law, Kirchhoff’s law
current and voltage division rule.
Chapter 2- Network theorems and circuits: Analysis the DC circuits using various network
theorems such as Superposition, Thevenin and Norton. And also describe the time-domain
analysis of first-order RL and RC circuits.
Module 2(8 hours):
Module 3(6 hours):
Module 4(8 hours): Chapter-3- DC machine: deals with the Construction and working of DC
machine, it also included type of dc machine and their characteristics, speed control.
Chapter-4- Induction machine: describes the Generation of rotating magnetic fields, Construction
and working of a three-phase induction motor. Torque-slip characteristic Loss components and
efficiency and speed control of induction motor have been discussing in this chapter. The
concept of Single-phase induction motor is also included.
Chapter-5- Synchronous machine: deals with the construction and working of synchronous
machine
