Dear Mayor Oreta,

Republic Act (RA) 7883 otherwise known as “The Barangay Health Workers Benefits and
Incentives Act of 1995” and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) were issued in
recognition of the role of BHWs as primary care volunteers and front liner in bringing health
care to the grassroots. To capacitate our BHWs on communication and community engagement
strategies during emergencies, disasters and outbreaks, an orientation is deemed necessary.

Relative to this, the Metro Manila Center for Health Development (MMCHD) — Field Operations
Cluster will conduct an Orientation on Risk Communication and Community Engagement for
BHWs October 28, 2021 from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM via webex. We would wish to invite the BHWs
in your city to attend this orientation.
