3 Product description
General
The Tourlock Manual is a manually operated door which has a 3 wing doorset surrounded by
close-fitting curved walls. The complete doorset turns by the axis of the center shaft. Each
door wing of the door is attached to the center shaft. The brushes on the edge of the door
wings make a draught-free seal against the walls. The walls support an aluminium structure
above the Tourlock Manual.
On this are:
• Ceiling
• Control boxes
• Dustcover

Control system
3.1.1 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
The PLC is built in the PLC-control box. It processes the signals from the IR sensors,
microswitches, etc. and controls the operation of the door. Two rows of numbered LED's
show each part of the operation. The program is stored in an EEPROM-memory (Electrically
Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) and therefore does not need a battery back-up.
Safety devices
3.1.3 Safety Rail Bent wall (SRB) (optional)
A rubber safety rail may be installed on each vertical edge of the curved walls.
Options
The Tourlock Manual has several options, which are mentioned in this chapter.
• Ceiling lighting
• Espagnolet (Night locking)
• Control panel external
• Power failure options; fail safe or fail secure
OPERATION
4 Operating concept
Basic operation
In the rest position the door stands in position A and is locked.
1) The signal-leds on the curved wall are off.
2) Someone authorises, for example with a card.
3) The card reader system has read and checked the card of the user
• If the card (user) is authorised, the green signal lamp 1 illuminates as long as the
door is ready for passage (between 5 – 11 sec.).
4) A user enters the door and pushes the doorset out of position.
• The doorset rotates 120° to its next rest position. The final part of the door wing
movement the doorset will slow down and the door will stop in its rest position.
5) The user leaves the door on the other side (secure side).
6) When an unauthorised person enters the door (tailgating),
• By following after the authorised person, in the next segment, the doorset rotates
120° to the rest position and locks. The tailgating user cannot pass the door.
Note: Unauthorised people using the same segment as an authorised predecessor
(piggybacking) will not be detected.
• By entering the sensored area (tailgating in opposite direction), the doorset will rotate
to its rest position, the person will be locked up in this segment. The person will be
able to leave the door on the unsecured side by pushing the doorset backwards.
7) The doorset stays locked in its rest position when there is no authorisation by the card
reader system.

Signal-LED’s
There are two coloured LED's (red/green) installed in the stile inside and outside.
Security devices
Infra-red sensors are installed to prevent unauthorised access.
Night locking *
4.1.1 Slidebolt or Espagnolet
The doorset can be locked by means of a slidebolt or espagnolet type lock. Locks of this
nature are mounted on the end of a door wing and securely lock the doorwings.
The slidebolt lock can be used by means of a key and cylinder lock.
The espagnolet lock can be used by means of a crank key and a cylinder lock.
It is not possible to operate the Tourlock Manual, as long as the doorset is locked by
means of the slidebolt or espagnolet locks. They must be released prior to operation
of the door.
Ceiling lighting *
Ceiling lighting is available with halogen, LEDs or low energy lamps.

This Boon Edam Inc. revolving door should install on LEVEL, FINISHED FLOOR.
Maintain a maximum 3/16” tolerance to comply with warranty. Should tolerances be greater
than 3/16” it’s recommended the floor be reworked.
1. Snap a centreline and locate centre point of the door on the line.
2. Snap a second line down perfectly square with the first. This can be done using
Pythagorean Theorem or the 3, 4, 5 Rule.
3. Using Trammel Points draw the radius of the inside base. This measurement can be
found within the first couple pages of your project specific drawing packet received
with the door.
4. Using a levelling device check the FINISHED FLOOR for level.
5. Find the highest point throughout the floor, including the centre. The door will need
to be raised to this point either by using the provide shims or rework the floor when
necessary.

it is ok if the pin is above the pivot slightly (less than 1.5”).
1. Remove the 3/8” nuts and washers from one side of the Support Frame Assembly.
2. Slide the Shaft up over the Top Hat Collar.
3. Lower the Support Frame Assembly, aligning the square head bolts back into the
proper holes.
4. Align the bottom collapsing disc onto the bottom pivot.

Rounding the canopy is often one of the most overlooked steps of a revolving door
installation. It also happens to be one of the most critical ones. If the canopy is not properly
rounded you will never get your equipment plumb at all locations. You may also have
unsightly revel lines in your weather stripping, or another problem you may see is your ceiling
pies will not fit properly.
Tip: Use a pry bar in-between the 2x4 and the post to push the canopy out. Skip the
places that have to come in until all the spots that have to go out are completed.

Note: Instruction for mounting when door centered in storefront opening. Not all
installations will be this way. Other forms of anchoring may be required.
1. Drill hole through the canopy and midpost large enough for the anchoring screw
to fit through (through hole)
2. Using levelling device plumb the center shaft from inside to outside.
3. Drill fixing hole (smaller than screw) into the adjacent storefront.
4. Using screw gun start anchoring screw
5. Plumb the center shaft from side to side
6. Use appropriate shims around anchoring screw to fill any space between the
midpost and adjacent storefront.
7. Tighten anchor.

MAINTENANCE
8 Maintenance
For detailed troubleshooting information please refer to chapter 9 Troubleshooting.
General
The technician should report to a contact or to the reception desk and should always ask
if there are any particulars.
Perform a visual check to see if there is broken glass or other damage.
Check tightness of all nuts and bolts.
Check for noise.
Check the brushes for wear and bend them in several locations if they are loose.
Clean out the centre column with a vacuum cleaner until it is free of dust.
Fill out the troubleshooting chart or maintenance checklist.
Electrical
Check and clean the safety devices (sensors, etc.).
Perform a function test, rest positions, control panel functions.
Check earth screen and earth leads.
Check the electrical wiring.
Lighting; replace where needed.
Perform a visual check of the relay contacts and exchange them where needed.
Mechanical
The Tourlock mechanism needs to be greased every 300.000 cycles (passages). For an
average use this means greasing is necessary every 1 to 2 years of operation.
Make sure to write down any remarks made by the customer on the checklist.
2 Tourlock mechanism
2.2 Tourlock unit (operation.+noise)/ -Check the following items:
• Check correct operation of the end switches (13); ensure that the arm of the
switch does not hit the switch body.
• Adjust the damping action of the shock absorber (12) in such a way that most of
the energy is absorbed when the doorset is pushed hard to its rest position.
Ensure that during normal operation the door returns to its rest position with a
reasonable speed.
• Check tightness of all nuts and bolts.
• Clean the solenoid plungers (1) (Do not use any grease or other lubricant).
• Ensure that the maximum stroke of the solenoid plunger (1) is not more than
10mm.
• Ensure that the locking pawls (4) & (5) are adjusted to a minimum of 3mm behind
the locking cam.
• Ensure that the locking pawls (4) & (5) move smoothly.
• Replace rusty springs.
• Check position of the switching cam (no number).
