TO PASS THE TIME

How you spend your time.

For example, when people retire they often wonder how will they pass the time.

Or you are waiting for a train (or a plane) and you get delayed.

- How did you pass the time?

- Oh, I sat on the floor and I passed the time reading a book.

TIME FOR MYSELF

Self time, time when you are doing something that makes you feel happy and relaxed.

My children are at school and my husband is at work so I have plenty of time for myself.

TIME ON MY HANDS
Someone has free time to do things they might not normally do because they are busy.

Now that I’ve got time on my hands, I will be able to look after the garden.

ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD

You’ve got so much time, you don’t know what to do with it.

Sure, I’ll come over, I’ll stay a few days. No problem, I’ve got all the time in the world.

IN TIME
When someone gets somewhere at the last moment before it’s too late.

We got stuck in traffic and arrived at the airport just in time to catch our flight.

ON TIME
You are not late, something happens as it should.

I would like everybody to be on time for the meeting.

PUSHED FOR TIME

We have a tight deadline, we got a lot of work to do and we really don’t have time for anything
else.

I’m really pushed for time this week.

TIME TO SPARE
Similar meaning to “time on my hands”. You achieved something ahead of time, you have
some free time so you can do whatever you like.

I’ve completed early my report, so now I have a bit of time to spare. I’m going to make myself a
nice cup of coffee.
