Mastura's environment provides the optimum location for Prawn Farm Culture. It
enjoys a standard climate, and has little rain.
The Site chosen will not be affected by high tides and the seawater will economically
provide water for 84 x 1 Hectare (100x100m) Prawn Grow-Out Ponds. The Farm
will also provide employment for Mastura villagers.
The Farm will take 15 months to construct, and will provide an initial cash flow
from month 9 onwards from 40, Grow-Out Ponds.
Marketing statistics indicate, that although the major portion of world prawn
production comes from capture fisheries due to over fishing and seasonal
harvesting, the requirement for controlled Prawn Culture production is rapidly
increasing and in 1997 amounted to 30% of world Prawn Productions.
The Farm in the First Year (6 months production) will harvest 543 Tons and from
Year 2 onwards 2284 Tons. Harvesting will be implemented on a monthly
productions schedule. 50% of the Prawns will be sold in the Kingdom and the rest
of the produce will be exported to selected overseas remunerative markets to satisfy
the world's shortage of high protein food.

Prawn Culture farming is very profitable, growth in farm ponds is rapid, feed
relatively cheap and selling prices high. From Year 2 onwards, to reduce Fry
Stocking of the Ponds by 90%, the Farm will cultivate its own Fry Culture, from
mother prawns harvested from the Red Sea by the Farm's Trawler boat and
harvesting equipment.
It is planned (but not forecasted in these projections) that production costs will be
reduced by further 40% from year 4 onwards, when the Farms' own Feed
Production Plant, (purchased from the Farm's profit) will commence production.
Kingdom's shortage of good quality high protein fish food The Feed
Production from the Plant, besides meeting the Farm's own Feed
requirement, will be marketed within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,
to satisfy the.
