DON QUIJOTE DE LA MANCHA

Don Quijote de la Mancha, is a very famous novel, written by Miguel de Cervantes in two
parts; a first The ingenious hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha (1605) and a second part of the
ingenious knight Don Quixote de la Mancha (1615).

The characters in this novel are;

Sancho Panza, Cide Hamete Benengeli, Antonia Quijana, Dulcinea del Toboso, Clavileño,
Ricote, Don Quixote de la Mancha, Rocinante, Cardenio and Maese Pedro.

Sancho Panza is the one who accompanies Don Quixote on his adventures.

Cide Hamete is a supposed Muslim historian.

Antonia Quijana is the niece, responsible, together with the mistress of the care of the farm
and of Don Quixote himself.

Dulcinea del Toboso is an imaginary and perfect woman inspired by the peasant Aldonza
Lorenzo Corchuero y Nogales.

Clavileño is the name of the wooden horse with which some dukes play a joke on Don Quixote
and Sancho Panza in the second part.

Ricote is a fictional character, a rich Moorish merchant and an old friend of Sancho Panza, who
was expelled from Spain in 1609 like all Moors.

Don Quixote de la Mancha was first known as Alonso Quijano, he is the protagonist of the
novel, he wanted to name himself, and this thought lasted another eight days, eventually
calling himself Don Quixote.

Rocinante is the name of Don Quixote's horse.

Cardenio is a young man from a good family who is in love with Luscinda, a young man who is
also from a very good family.

Maese Pedro is a man who makes a living with a fortune teller monkey and his puppet show.

This novel's plot is based on an ingenious gentleman, Don Quixote de la Mancha, and he tells
us about his adventures since he began by calling himself Alonso Quijano, who was a poor
gentleman and who ends up going mad from reading chivalric novels and believing himself to
be a knight errant , naming himself as Don Quixote de la Mancha.

My opinion of this novel is that it is interesting, and describes a somewhat complicated plot,
but that attracts reading because of the adventures that different people go through.
The worst thing about this novel is its duration, it is very long to read and therefore, a lot of
time is spent on it, ending up becoming a bit heavy.
