The advantage and disadvantages of using percentage of mass in real life

Definition of Percent of Mass:

- It is a used to express the concentration of a solution when the mass of a solute

Advantages:

- Useful for knowing how much percent by mass of a single element in a mixture.

Disadvantage:

- It is only limited for computing the percentage of mass. Nothing else.

Formula:

mass of solute
percent by mass= x 100
mass of solution

Example:

Find the percent by mass if 7g of NaCl is dissolved in a solution whose total mass is 80g.

Mass of solute = 7g
Mass of solution = 80g

7g
percent by mass= x 100 = 8.75%
80 g
