Although there is no clear-cut distinction between ‘language’ and ‘dialect’ due to political

and social issues, ‘language’ is basically unintelligible to non-speakers of it while ‘dialect’ is


a form of language that is mutually intelligible to speakers of the same or related
language. There are almost twice as many dialects as languages in the Philippines.

What do you think is their common language?.


Did you know?
Did you know that Japanese language is not only spoken in Japan? High School
students from various countries like Vietnam, Australia, and Philippines, also learn the
Japanese language. So we can use the language to communicate not only with
Japanese people but also with other Japanese language speakers.
They can communicate through Nihongo. We call these people
Nihongojin. Halina! Be NIHONGOJIN!
