Applications of EM

Spectrum
Grade 10 Physics
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the lesson, you should be able to:

enumerate the parts of the electromagnetic

1 spectrum;
identify the application of each part of the
2 electromagnetic spectrum;
explain how each part of the electromagnetic
3 spectrum becomes significant to people and
environment; and
appreciate the importance of
4 electromagnetic waves.
ENGAGE
Arrange the following bands of the electromagnetic spectrum from the LOWEST frequency to
the HIGHEST frequency. Put 1 for the lowest frequency and 7 for the highest on the first
column. For the second column, arrange it from the LONGEST wavelength to the SHORTEST
wavelength. Put 7 for the LONGEST wavelength and 1 to the SHORTEST.

X-RAY
ULTRAVIOLET
GAMMA
RADIOWAVE
INFRARED
VISIBLE LIGHT
MICROWAVE
Complete each statement below. Choose from the choices below the
number/word that will make the statement correct.

1. Frequency is also known as the _____________ of the wave.

2. Frequency is ______________ proportional to the wavelength in
each band of Electromagnetic Spectrum.
3. The speed of the electromagnetic spectrum is
_______________ m/s.

300,000,000 inversely energy

ENGAGE

Now that we have learned the parts of the electromagnetic

spectrum, what do you think is the importance of each and how can
we use it in our daily lives?
