1. GENERAL
1.1 Description
This method statement describes the procedure, quality control, environment management
and safety control aspects of busway installation & connection work.
1.2 .Scope of work:
Installation location should follow builder grid line for locating and elevation reference
Consultant: Permit and hand over plan to Shimizu.
Inspection work items fo llow ITP.
Shimizu:
+ Shimizu will present installation method statement, preparation work, Job analysis and risk
easement before executing any works
+Works will be supervised to make sure that all work is carried out in compliance with
approved documentation.
+ Invite consultant inspection before and after finished work.

2. METHODOLOGY
2.1. Preparation works:

All relevant shop drawings have already been approved.


Check all documentation and permits if approved and valid .
Training workers and engineer about safety and working regulations.
Equipment, material and accessories already is delivery on site and inspected by consultant.
Material w ill be arranged at working area.
Before start the installation and connection, the contractor must install mock up and
inspection.
Install the sign boards on site according to stipulated regulations of safety and other
instructions of the employer's engineer.

- The temporary works as: material stock, fabrication, hand tools will be prepared in advance.
- Confirmation of working drawing and preparation of working at workshop shall be done prior
to work. Materials and machineries/equipment necessary for the work shall be set up.
- Clearing the site before realize the work.

2.3. Key points of the method statement:

2.3 . 1 Production busway delivery and inspection:

2.3. 1. 1 Unloading busway

Depend on the work location the unloading method should be as follows:


- Use folk lift for unloading busway and fittings.
- Busway is kept in Northstar storage for inspection.
- After material inspection, moving busway to site for installing work by man power
2.3. 1.2 Material inspection.

2.3. 1.2.1 Internal inspection.

- Upon material delivery, internal inspection must be carried out by NS & SMZ.
- Check and prepare technical specification document of material same as approved.
2.3.1.2.2 CM ( construction management) inspection.

- Request CM for inspection of delivered material.


- After inspection, request CM to sign & comment if any.
2.3.2 Installation works:
2.3.2.1 Making location of busway.
- Survey and Marking the level and position for busway (location of end tap box).
- Use warning tape for marking.
- Invite consultant inspection before installation.
2.3.2.2 .Installing support, hanger and busway.
- Checking the appearance condition of busway and fittings.
- Fabricate and Install support, hanger follow drawing and marking location.
- Using lift or scaffoldings and mobilize manpower to move end tape box and feeder straight of
busway (refer to MSE.02 for more details).
- Install end tap box to right location and fixing.
- Install busway and fittings on the installed supports, beginning from joint point of end tap box. Pay
attention to fo llow the installation instruction from manufacturer.
2.3.2.3 Testing.
- After installation finished, the insulation testing procedure will be carried out, includes: insulation
from phase to phase, phase to neutral, phase to earthing. The testing voltage is 1000 V. The
insulation value must be not less than 5 MegaOhms (or 30 .5/length of route in meter), the reading
value shall be recorded in the below table:

- All information and testing result will be recorded in document for hand-over later.

2.3.2.4 Termination work

- Before realizing termination work, the phase and size of cable terminal and MCCB terminal must
be checked carefully.
- Only the qualified personnel must be allowed to do termination work.
- Strip cable cover to bring out the cores and exposed conductors, for the minimum length
required for connection, to leave no exposed length of conductor after termination. Ensure that
strands are not damaged when stripping cable cover. Do not reduce number of conductor
strands. Secure all strands at terminals.
- All cable connections shall be made with approved cable lugs, pressing-type together with the
usage of proprietary tools.
- Use cable gland for cable incoming to end tap box, plug in unit and production panel.
- Pay attention to tighten the bolts of lug and marking. The tightening torque depends on bolt size.
- Installing name tags at each end of all cables to identify each cable.
- Checking the connection point comply with specification.
- Checking the strongly of connection among termination.
2.3.3. Installation inspection.

2.3.3.1 Internal inspection.


- Engineer in charge should check all material that is approved to be use & drawing approved
before installation.
- Approved method statement & design specification should be followed during installation.
- Check the quality of work.

2.3.3.2 CM inspection.
- Request CM for inspection installation work.
- Check quality of installed busway on site.
- Check busway and supports installed based on approved shop drawing and design
specification.
- Upon inspection request CM to sign the document.

4. 1 Description of duty:
SHIMIZU main contractor:
1: Shimizu - M&E Manager:
Generally manage a ll ME work and to ensure that proposed working schedule followed.
2: Shimizu-M&E Coordinator:
Support M&E manager about Schedule , Procurement and coordinate with employer,
consultant
To get information related to M&E works.
3: Shimizu - Site engineer:
+ Check preparation works and documentation can commence on schedule. Arrange to
Facilitate correction of any documents outstanding.
+ Supervise to make sure that all work must be carried out follow method statement and
Drawing approved by consultant and client
+ Coordinate w ith QC engineer for inspection work (internal and Consultant/ Client inspection.
4: Shimizu - QC engineer:
+ Daily checking on site, instruct to Subcontractor if not follow installation specification
+ Coordinate with Subcontractor QC engineer for internal inspection and Consultant/client for
official Inspection.
5: Shimizu - safety engineer:
+ Daily checking on site, instruct to subcontractor if not follow safety regulation
+ Safety engineer can stop subcontractor working if they proceed unsafely
Northstar subcontractor
+ Follow all instruction from Shimizu Site engineer, QC engineer, Safety officer to directly
Execute at site to make sure all work shall carry out safety, quality and finish on time.
+ Subcontractor must execute al l step as mention method statement
+ Inform to main contractor for inspection after complete .
5. Quality control :
+ Shimizu, consultant, subcontractor must check working plan condition before working.
Subcontractor can execute just as Shimizu a nd consu ltant accepted.
+ Inform consultant to check al l working pla n after installation, connection and cleaning.

8. SAFETY MANAGEMENT

Prior to start installation work, the following matters w ill be thoroughly constructed to all personal
working on construction site in order to complete the works in accordance with the approval
documents and procedures.
8.1. Joint meeting:
'
Prior to start any activity, a meeting with member directly join on work will be held for purpose of
explanation whole content of work and point all potential risk may occur during construction work
and inform schedule power off for owner factory.
8.2. Instruction:
For new staff join the works, a safety course will be held by Shimizu.
The instruction will be explained same content as above meeting item.
8.3. Prevention of Accident by Heavy Machine
Only skilled operators shall be allowed to operate the heavy machines on site. In case of new
operators , a test of skill shall be conducted first prior to allow him. Maintenance check shall be
done regularly at site prior to full operation. The excavator range must be indicated by safety
barricade and place warning sign;
8.4. Prevention of Accident of Electrocution

Equipment use electric power shall be properly protected and properly installed with earth
connection. Electric wires shall be connected with electrical tapes to prevent electric leakage.
Only skilled operator shall be allowed to operate equipment on site.
8.5. Prevention of Accident in Night Shift Works
Sufficient quantity of lighting system shall be provided for night shift works especially installed at
working area. If necessary all of the surrounding working area shall be lighted up.
Beside of the above action, all the activities on site must be follow approved "Project Environment
Plan" and the entire related Environment's current regulation of the Vietnam Government.
