ANALYZE through his guiding.

Did you learn from your observation of the teacher? Now let us analyze the
information that you have gathered. Answer the following questions.
1. In this activity, what do you consider as the 3 most outstanding significant personal
qualities of the teacher you chose as your case? Why do you consider these as
outstanding?
a. Knowledgeable.
I consider knowledgeable as the 3 most outstanding significant personal qualities of the
teacher because the teacher delivers his lesson very well. Also as I observe in the video
the teacher really think what kind of activity he will be giving to his students like the
activity in Google classroom which is very interesting and engageable in every student
and also for me. The teacher really knows how to engage his students by giving activity.

b. Humble
I consider humble as the 3 most outstanding significant personal qualities of the teacher
because the teacher is always open for the question and always asked his students if
they really understand his lesson. Also being humble is one of the quality should every
teacher possess.

c. Determined
I consider determined as the 3 most outstanding significant personal qualities of the
teacher because as I observed the teacher is very passionate, committed, inspiring, and
student-focused.

2. Which of these qualities do you have? Do you think you can fit as a good teacher
someday? Yes Why? Describe yourself. Well dedicated and determined person

I think I have all qualities that mention above. So, I think I can fit as a good teacher
someday because I have a power to inspire, through my attitudes, actions, and even
through the lessons or activities I engage my future students in. Possessing those kinds
of qualities will help me to become a good teacher someday. Help me to become a
good teacher in the future with a full understanding of subject matter that able to help
my students understand, by explaining concepts thoroughly and being able to answer
all questions accurately. And help me by displaying competence and interest in a variety
of areas, and as a future teacher I will set a positive example for my students, and
encourage them to explore new areas of knowledge. Although knowledge and skills are
important, as a teacher who is humble and well determined I will create a positive
environment in which students feel comfortable learning.
Being dedicated in many ways has helped me in my life. Studies and family are just
some of the ways that I have become a dedicated person. When you try hard to
accomplish things, and put in the effort, then you can surely succeed. I believe that
being a dedicated person can help you be successful in your life. In my life I’ve thought
what it means to be a dedicated person and I’ve learned that when I am dedicated to
something, I need to achieve the goal I have set. I have learned that when you
accomplish a goal, you should then set another one so you can keep going to the top.
Also, in my family life, I’ve learned to keep going and never give up. When I set goals
for myself and never give up, it shows that I want to be successful. Also being
determined of what I want to accomplish or do help me to become someone who I am
now.

REFLECT

Good teachers are role models, whether in school, at home or in the community.
From the learners that you had from elementary to college, did the personal qualities
that they possess, help you learn better as a student?
Identify one personal characteristic of your model teacher that has made a great
impact in your life as a learner. Reflect and describe how this quality influenced you.

During my elementary days the one characteristics of my model teacher that has made
me a great impact in my life as a learner is being humble because that teacher every
time we have a class she always says that “be humble to the people you encounter
everyday whatever their status in life, try to put yourself on their shoes”. It inspires me a
lot in a way that I apply it in my daily life. While during my high school life this one
teacher also made a great impact in my life which is her personal characteristics of
being determined, organized, and humble build me in what I am now as a person. So
now that I am a college student I have one teacher that her personal characteristics
which is being knowledgeable and humble inspire me into the extent that I want to be
like her also in the future. She knows how to impart knowledge in her students every
time she teach and she knows how to become a humble teacher with her students who
doesn’t understand he lesson. She always tell as that if we cannot understand her

ANALYZE

1. Based on your findings and observations which philosophies of education are

dominant in Philippine basic schools? Why do you say so?

Based on my findings and observation the philosophies of education are dominant

bin Philippines basic school are Essentialism, Perennialism, Progressivism, and
Reconstructionism because within the epistemological frame that focuses on the
nature of knowledge and how we come to know, the four major educational
philosophies, each related to one or more of the general or world philosophies.
These educational philosophical approaches are currently used in classrooms the
world over. Also these educational philosophies focus heavily on what we should
teach the curriculum aspect.

2. If there is one philosophy that schools and teachers should give more attention to,
what should that be and why?

If there is one philosophy that schools and teachers should give more attention to it
should be the Essentialism because it tries to instill all students with the most
essential or basic academic knowledge and skills and character development.
Essentialists believe that teachers should try to embed traditional moral values and
virtues such as respect for authority, perseverance, fidelity to duty, consideration for
others, and practicality and intellectual knowledge that students need to become
model citizens. The foundation of essentialist curriculum is based on traditional
disciplines such as math, natural science, history, foreign language, and literature.
Essentialists frown upon vocational courses. In the essentialist system, students are
required to master a set body of information and basic techniques for their grade
level before they are promoted to the next higher grade. The content gradually
moves towards more complex skills and detailed knowledge. Essentialists argue that
classrooms should be teacher-oriented. The teacher should serve as an intellectual
and moral role model for the students. The teachers or administrators decide what is
most important for the students to learn with little regard to the student interests. The
teachers also focus on achievement test scores as a means of evaluating progress.
REFLECT
What is your philosophy of teaching? This describes what you believed you should
teach, how you should teach and how you should relate to others in school-with the
learners, your colleagues your superiors and all other stakeholders. Write them down.
This is your title, "My Philosopny of Teaching."

My Philosophy of Teaching

These may be of help:

A skillful educator builds good relationships with her learners based on mutual respect
and trust and sets the tone for a classroom community. It provides with the tools to be
successful in an information literate society and allows them the freedom to express
themselves and room to grow as human beings and learners while setting appropriate
limits. Understands the importance of building a support network for students between
school and home, and may have to be the first to initiate that teamwork.

I believe that the learner . .... . . . . (concept of the learner)

I believe that the learner would do well on their study. The learner will have a good
relationship with their teacher like the learners have respect with their teachers and also
the teachers have respect with their learners.

I believe that I should teach the learners... (what)

by (how)

I believe that I should teach the learners with all my heart. Impart knowledge that would
help them apply it in real life situation. Also give time them to self-reflect their self as
their gate way to have a better learning and understanding.

I believe that I … . . . (how should you relate to learners, colleagues, superior, parents
and other stakeholders)

I believe that I can explain it by communicating them and explaining how this important
on each one of us.
