CHAPTER I
Introduction
The Senior High School program is the last level in all basic education programs of
the countries reviewed. Results of the review show that the Senior High School (SHS)
industry or be an entrepreneur. The K-12 system stands for “from Kindergarten to 12th grade’’.
The need to be the best has become the motivation behind many students in today’s academic
settings. The Philippines was the last country in Asia having a 10 year basic education and pre
university program (SEAMEO & INNOTECH, 2012). Worldwide the Philippines were joined by
Djibouti and Angola of African having the shortest pre-university education system with other
countries having 13 or 14 years cycles (senate of the Philippines, 2011). The much needed
overhaul of the Philippine basic education system becomes a reality through republic Act 10533,
also known as the Enhanced Basic Education Act which has passed last May 2013 making the
pre-university and basic education from 10 to 13 years (congress of the Philippines, 2011).1
As we entered the issues of having a Senior High School. The researcher would like
to determine the graduates of Rawis Senior High School competitiveness when they are exposed
to a bigger school and when it comes on their academics. The current trend in society appears to
be a “cut throat” approach where the theme seems to be for individuals to do what they must to
get ahead of the next person (Johnson, 1997). Ever since, very students who entered elementary

grade, the message of our parents even our teachers conduct to us was with our dedication you
can do when you put your mind towards to your dreams and goals in life.
The researcher conduct this kind of study is to know if some of the students here in
Rawis Senior High School (RSHS) who has a great academic are also competitive if ever they
enter or went in other schools in college to pursue their own curses. To know their edge for being

This study is descriptive on nature and will focus on the graduates students of Rawis Senior High
School (RSHS) who are currently enrolled in different colleges or universities. The research
sample will be composed of graduates coming from GAS, CSS, EIM, S.Y 2017-2018.
12 graduates.
Competitiveness that are being chosen by the students in GAS, COOKERY, EIM, and CSS
STUDENTS. The results of the study may give a lot of benefit because it will

reconsidering its impact on the students and for those students who’s Under Graduates and the
recommends about the said study and to give them knowledge about this particular research.
GRADUATES. The study helps graduates in way of knowing and letting them be
aware for what should they must do, for them to be much better having their Competitiveness be
one of the top. As it was be enough or should they grew more as they knew the particular
research.
Definition of Terms
For the purpose of clarity and understanding of this study, the following terms are
university against one’s peers or classmates.2 Operationally, this refers to the competing level of
the graduates in terms of academic performance to the competitiveness of Rawis Senior High
School.

objective or prize. Competitiveness does not mean an ability to beat all your rivals but rather,

your thirst and willingness to be involved in competition; to staying in competition and not be
booted out or totally outclassed.5 Operationally, this refers for competing in our school to others
