Daily Lesson Plan Elementary School.
Teacher:
Teaching Date and Time
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of addition of whole numbers.
B. Performance Standard The leaner is able to apply addition of whole numbers in mathematical
problems and in real-life situation.
C. Learning Competencies/ The learner adds 3- to 4-digit numbers up to three addends with sums up to
Objectives 10 000 without and with regrouping. M3NS-Id27.6
II. CONTENT
A. Content Addition of Whole Numbers
B. Concept The roperties of adding whole numbers.

1. The addend are the numbers to be added.

2. The sum is the total number of the added numbers.
3. Commutative Property – changing the addend’s oorder does not
affect the sum.
4. Associative Propety – changing the addend’s grouping does not
affect the sum.
5. Identity Property – the sum is always the number itself when we add
zero (0) to any whole number..
KBI: Appreciate the value of addition.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson Asks the learners:
and activating prior
knowledge What is addition?

B. Establishing purpose of the Motivation:

lesson.
Double it!

In this game, all learners should participate.

*The teacher says, “I will say a number, you double it”.

C. Presenting new lesson/ Discussion:

instance for a lesson
Discuss what is:

1. Addition
2. Addend and;
3. Sum

D. Discussing new lessons and Activity # 1

practicing new skills #1
Apply the understanding of addition in solving word problem.

Deib’s mother asks him to buy ice that cost 5 pesos, pepper for 3 peso and
onions which cost 9 pesos in the nearest sari-sari store. After Deib gets
back to his mother, he was asked if how much it did cost in total. What
would be the response of Deib to his mother’s question.

To find the sum;

1st. Find the addend numbers

Answer: 5, 3, 9

2nd. Write into a mathematical equation.

Answer:
9
5
+3
=

Lastly, write the total number by combining the addend numbers.

Answer: 17

E. Discussing new lesson and Activity # 2

practicing new skills #2
Discuss the properties of addition.

1. Identity Property of Addition (IPA)

- the sum is always the number itself if we add zero (0) to
any whole number.
Example: a+0=a
2. Commutative Property of Addition (CPA)
- changing the addends’ order does not affect the sum.
Example: a+b=b+a
3. Associative Property of Addition (APA)
- changing the addends’ grouping does not affect the sum.
Example: (a + b) + c = b + (c + a)

F. Developing Mastery Activity # 3

Group activity:
1. The teacher will group the students.
2. The teacher will divide the board according to the number of groups.
3. The learners will fall inline accordingly facing the board.
4. The teacher will give a mathematical sentence and the learners will
write their answer. The fastest will be the one to be given points.
5. The teacher will count the total scores and will give a price to the
group who wins.

G. Finding practical application Apply the understanding of addition in solving real-word problem.
of concept and skills in daily
living If you already have 60 pesos in your saving and your mother gives you 12
pesos to be added in your piggy bank. How much money you will have in
total?

H. Making generalizations and Ask the students:

abstractions about the lesson
1. What is addition?
2. What do you call the numbers added?
3. What do you call the numbers that’s been add?
4. What are the three properties of addition?

I. Evaluating learning Give the sum and identify the property used in the following:

1.) 20 + 45 = 45 + 20
2.) (3 + 17) + 5 = 3 + (5 + 17)
3.) 10 + (44 +6) = 44 + (6 + 10)
4.) 8 + 19 = 19 + 8
5.) 86 + 0 =

J. Assignment/ Additional Additional Activity:

activities for application or
remediation Please have an advance reading for our next topic “Subtraction of
whole Numbers”, and answer the question below.

What is subtraction and how it differs from

addition?
