Laboratory Exercise - ANSWER SHEET

Determining Pace Factor and Measuring Horizontal Distances

Name: Nicole C. Caparroso Student Number: 2017099693 Section: 3AR4

Date and Time when activity was conducted: June 30, 2020 ; 3:00 pm Weather Condition: Sunny but windy
Location: Meycauayan Bulacan

PART I: PACE FACTOR DETERMINATION

Table 1. Determination of Pace Factor

TRIA LIN MEAN NO. OF TAPED DISTANCE MEAN PACE FACTOR

NO. OF PACES
L E PACES (m) (m/pace)
1 AB 53.25
2 BA 53.25
3 AB 52.50 52.75 20 m 0.3791 m/pace
4 BA 53.25
5 AB 51.50

PART II: MEASURING DISTANCE BY PACING AND TAPING

Table 2. Paced and Taped Distances, Error, and Relative Precision

PACED TAPED
TRIA NO. OF MEAN NO. ERROR RELATIVE
LINE DISTANCE DISTANCE
L PACES OF PACES (m) PRECISION
(m) (m)
1 C1-C2 58.25
2 C2-C1 58.00
3 C1-C2 57.50 58.35 22.120485 m 21.5 m 0.620485 1: 35
4 C2-C1 58.50
5 C1-C2 59.50

Discussion about relative precision (see Part II-B-5): I think I acquired a low relative precision because I might not have
consistently paced to both points at a uniform speed and spacing since there were distractions around that might have changed
some of my steps.
