I. Case Study.

so. The reason is, rock is made up of small particles that bond together that have the same properties or
similar element in accordance to the study of materials rock in particular. The questions are:

a) Can we expidite the formation of rock? If your answer is yes, explain how will you do it, and if
your answer is no, explain why it is not possible.

II. Grade 40 steel is best use for reinforcement, is it so? Why?

Grade 60 is much stronger and most commonly used in constructional purposes.

III. In a construction, we have the so-called reinforced concrete which is to be designed by a civil or
structural engineer, explain the stresses that these two materials resist.

Concrete provides strength against compressive stress and the reinforcement provides strength against
tensile stress. Compressive stress (compression force) squeezes materials together while tensile stress
(tension force) pulls materials apart.
