Course Title

Effective Writing
Objective of the Program
This program aims to produce teachers who have the ability to:
 demonstrate the capacity to use various writing forms, (for example, in class responses,
journals, notebooks, reports, argumentative essays, research papers and etc.) to realize the
purpose of the course.
 exemplify ethical writing practices (i.e., avoid plagiarism, used of an appropriate citation
style) all void varieties of written language.
 demonstrate the capacity to effectively integrate multiple sources (primary and
secondary, electronic and print) into the course’s writing assignments.
 Demonstrate improvements in written expression of thought by utilizing various
techniques (such as critique, multiple drafts or revisions of assignments after receiving
feedback).
 Develop students’ written expression of thoughts and supply learners opportunities to
explore ideas and to create connections between contents areas.
Course Description

PHILOSOPHY
This course presents practice guides in the field of English for effective writing. It includes
discussion of the various subfields of the discipline. It is designed for students who wish to learn
and improve their writing skills in English to bring the best in them in this current challenges in
education. Included in the course are guidelines for developing specific skill in various
categories and contexts and assessing learners enrolled in this course.

AUDIENCE
This course is intended for first year to fourth year students under College of Teacher Education.

Intended Learning Outcome


ILO Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:
ILO 1  Improve their active vocabulary in writing skills by reflecting on their
personal experiences and to enlarge their critical thinking and
creativity.
ILO 2  Develop their vocabulary and grammar skills and for them to
familiarize them with grammar convention with the help of credible
text.
ILO 3  Develop their ability to compose written texts for academic purposes.

This course will be taught through the discussions of the lessons provided in the module.
Other related strategies can be also used and applied to specific topic.

Assessment Strategies
The students of this course will be assessed through written exercises, written outputs and
short quizzes at the end of every topic provided.
