CROCHET BRA TOP IN 4PLY COTTON 1

This project uses U.S crochet pattern terminology.
MEASUREMENTS: To fit a B size Bra Cup
HOOK SIZE: 3 mm (U.S 2/C)
MATERIALS: 4 ply Bendigo Cotton or equivalent
ABBREVIATIONS: ch = chain, sc = single crochet, dc = double
crochet, hdc = half double crochet, sl st=slip stitch, cms =
centimetres, ins = inches.
HINTS: Minimise finishing off by crocheting all ends in when
changing yarns. Check correct number of stitches after
completing each round.
MAKE 2
Make 43 chain (Place a marker at stitch 21 this will be the
stitch you increase into)
ROW 1. 1 hdc into 3rd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each ch to end,
2 ch turn. (41 ch).
ROW 2. (Dec) 1 hdc in next 2 hdc, 1 hdc in next 18 hdc, (inc)
3 hdc in next hdc, (marker) 1 hdc in next 18 hdc, (dec) 1 hdc in
last 2 hdc, 2 ch turn. (41 sts).
ROW 3. 1 hdc into each hdc to end 2 ch turn (41 sts)
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until work measures approximately 2 ¼ ins
or 5.7 cms. end on a row 3.
CROCHET BRA TOP IN 4PLY COTTON
If you are making the top for yourself you can measure from
under the bust to the nipple line (where you will continue to
increase to) and start to decrease from that measurement.
Decreasing and working from 41 sts or the number that remain
from your personal measurements.
ROW 1. dec 1 hdc in next 2 hdc, 1 hdc in next 18 hdc, dec 1 in
next 2 hdc, 1 hdc in next 17 hdc, dec 1 hdc in next 2 hdc, 2 ch
turn. (38 sts) Place a marker around the base of the middle
decrease, decrease at this marker alternate rows.
ROW 2, hdc in each hdc to end, 2 ch turn (38 sts)
ROW 3. dec 1 hdc in next 2 hdc, 1 hdc in next 17 hdc, dec 1 in
next 2 hdc, 1 hdc in next 16 hdc, dec 1 hdc in next 2 hdc, 2 ch
turn. (35 sts)
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until ( decreasing 3 sts every alternate
row ) until 3 sts remain,
At the end of the following rows you should have:
R4- 32 sts, R6- 29. R8- 26. R10- 23. R12- 20 R14-
17. R16- 14. R18- 11. R20 - 8. R22- 5.
ROW 23. hdc in 5 remaining hdc, 2 ch turn
ROW 24. dec 1 hdc in next 2 hdc, 1 hdc in next hdc, 1 hdc in
last 2 hdc, 2 ch turn
Work htr on these 3 sts for 22 ins or 57 cms.
BAND:
Using your 3mm crochet hook and 3 ply yarn, and ensuring that
right sides of cups are to the front.
ROW 1. Pick up the hdc stitches along lower ends of both cup
pieces, This will join both cup pieces together.

Commence with a slip st st and 2 ch.,
1 hdc in each hdc to end, (across both cups) 2 ch turn.
Approximately 82 hdc / or number resulting from your
personal measurement.
ROW 2. hdc in each hdc to end 2 ch, turn
Repeat Row 2 until band measures 1.3/4 ins. or 4.5 cms.
Fasten off yarn
SIDE TIES: (2)
(Pick up 11 sts evenly along the sides of each tie)
ROW:1. sl st into 1st space 1 ch., 1 sc into next 10 spaces,. 2
ch turn .
ROW:2. 1 hdc in next 11 sc ., 2 ch turn. (11 hdc)
ROW:3. (dec) 1hdc in next 2 hdc, 1 hdc in each hdc to last 2
hdc., (dec) 1 hdc in last 2 hdc., 2 ch turn. (9 hdc)
ROW:4. 1 hdc in each dc to end 2 ch turn (9 hdc)
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until 3 hdc remain, work,.
2 ch., 1 hdc in 3 remaining hdc until tie measures desired
length. Fasten off, thread ends off.
MAKING THE FLOWER
Single Petal Flowers Make 4
Make a slip ring, using yellow 4ply yarn and a 3mm hook
ROUND 1. 3 ch, (counts as 1 dc) work 9 dc, in ring (gives 10 dc
spaces)
ROUND 2. Using white cotton join into 3rd ch of beginning 3 ch and
pull through yellow yarn on hook, *1sc, 2dc, in the first dc space,
next dc space, 2dc, 1 sl st,* repeat from*to* (5 petals) sl st into the

base of the beginning sc. cut yarn and thread off at the back of
flower.
2 Petal Flower make 1 continue on here
ROUND 3. Using white yarn, join yarn in at the back and in the
middle of any petal with a sl st. make 4 ch and repeat for remaining
petals, you should have 4 chain linking all the petals. Finish in the
same petal as you started using a sl st. DO NOT BREAK YARN turn
flower to face front
ROUND 4. In the 4ch work *1 sc, 5 dc, 1 sl st* repeat from* to *
for remainder of 4 ch loops. Finish by working a sl st into sc of first
flower. Cut yarn and finish off at the back of flower.
ATTACHING FLOWERS TO FRONT OF BRA
Using appropriate colour thread bring the two bra cups together
above the band and stitch for 3/4 of an inch or 2 cms.
The large flower is placed over this stitching. Using white thread
sew flower in place using a back stitch around outer petals.
The single petal flowers are attached in the same manner as per the
front cover illustration. The first 2 single crocheted flowers are
stitched together through one set of petals to hold the front
together. Ensure that these two flowers are placed so as the petals
on both these flowers will meet.

Instead of working the 6 petals only work 5 and only 1 and 2 rows of
petals.
Hat elastic can be attached to the outer sides of the bra cups if required.
