BMX Bikes

Narration:
BMX racing is a type of off-road bicycle racing. BMX bicycle races are sprint races on
purpose-built off-road single-lap race tracks. The track usually consists of a starting gate for
up to eight racers, a groomed, serpentine, dirt race course made of various jumps and rollers
and a finish line.

Facts:
1) Bmx can be practiced either on-road or off-road.
2) Bike Motocross started in the late 1960s in California, around the time that motocross
became a popular sport in the USA.
3) Bicycle Motocross has been officially recognized as an Olympic Sport and made its
debut at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
4) There are 6 disciplines spread over 2 sections in BMX: Racing and Freestyle, (Bmx,
Freestyle, Racing, Street, Flatland, Ramp&Park, Trail riding and Dirt Jumping.

5) Flatland is doing tricks over a flat space of land.


6) Ramp & Park involves doing tricks in a specially-designed BMX ramp park.
7) Trail riding involves a lot of time spent in the mountains or in the woods, and it’s
basically a collection of dirt jumps.
8) Dirt Jumping is what you see at the X-Games where there are huge jumps and riders
have to do tricks over them. Also, dirt bikes are heavy.
9) The average top speed of BMX race bike is 35mph (56 kph) descending a starting
race ramp. The average top speed for a mountain bike is 30 mph (48 kph) when riding
downhill, which is 5 mph (8 kph) slower than a BMX bike.
