Senior High School is the last stage of the Philippine Basic Education System and
preparation for curriculum exits- higher education, employment, or entrepreneurship. As
you go along in this journey, as a learner you will encounter various subjects that broaden

these subjects will equip you with the necessary skills and competencies that will prepare

1. Anthropology – the study of humans and their cultures in the past and present
time. It understands the complexity of cultures across all of human history.
2. History – the systematic study of human past events to understand the meaning,
dynamics, and relationship of the causes and effects of events in the development
of societies.
3. Economics – studies the allocation of scarce resources and the production and
exchange of goods and services in society.
4. Geography – a study of the interaction between people and their environments
5. Demography – the scientific study of human populations across time. It examines
the changes in population growth through the analysis of statistics on birth, human
movement and morbidity, agedness, and mortality.
6. Sociology – systematic study of people’s behavior in a group.
7. Psychology - studies how the human mind works in consonance with the body to
produce thoughts that lead to individual actions. Analyzes how people and groups
experience the world through various emotions.
8. Political Science – primarily studies human behavior concerning political
systems, governments, laws, and international relations. It examines the
relationship between people and policy at all levels from the individual to the
national and international levels.
9. Linguistics – the scientific study of language.
The Definition of Applied Social Sciences
Applied Social Sciences is the study on how to improve the daily life of the
individuals, groups of individuals, and communities or society by integrating the concepts,
methods, and theories of the discipline of social sciences. It aims to provide more
comprehensive different premises, perspectives, and practices from the different social
disciplines to understand and resolve the problems and issues that arise from society.

you will make documentation or video presentations or clip showing the importance
of social sciences in our daily life. You will record the coverage of documentation
through your available gadgets such as cellphones, recorders, etc. and you will
send to your teacher or post it in any of the social media such as on Facebook,
YouTube, and others.
The following are your guide in making your documentary report or video
clip:
1. You will choose any of the disciplines of social sciences and applied social
sciences as your subject or topic.
2. You will make an interview or capture any scenes that may be unusual or
phenomenon from your community that is related to your chosen topic. The
scenes may be a problem in the community or the crisis such as the impact
of the pandemic in our daily life or any instances which you think related to
the topic.
3. You will show in your documentation or video clip the role of your chosen
discipline in analyzing this phenomenon or may on how to resolve the
problem if this is a problem in your community.

Directions:
1. You will make your portfolio entitled “Portfolio of Social Scientist in the
Making”
2. You will use any materials available in your home such as used materials like
papers or any possible materials to create an expandable envelope. Make it
creative as you want based on your personality.
3. You will keep all your outputs in this portfolio and the teacher will collect it
