Exercise 3.1

1. Write your viewpoint in your quiz notebook as to where the first Mass happened?
 For me, the first mass happened at Limasawa because that is what my knowledge
about the first mass, since childhood.

2. What is your stand about the site of the first Mass?


 I believe that the first mass happened at Limasawa, because that is what the
history tells about us, and also his countrymen told that it was happened there.
And I also believe that it is more truthful if you have evidence about your saying.

3. How credible the account of Antonio Pigafetta about the site of the first Mass?
 Antonio Pigafetta’s account is credible because he witnessed it by himself as well
as the other things happened during the expedition of Magellan.

4. How the content of the text help you understand the controversy on the first Catholic
Mass in the Philippines?
 The content of the text helped answers the questions in my head, if where did the
first mass happened because. It helps me understand how first mass done and
also, who are those people behind the first mass.

LESSON 2
The Cavity Mutiny
Exercises 3.2

1. How do you understand the word “Munity”?


 This world means the rebellion against authority. It means that the disciple,
workers or the followers that against the higher authorty.

2. What does Governor Gen. Izquierdo describe Cavite Munity compared from the version,
does this account related to? Explain.
 Governor Gen. Izquierdo describe Cavite Mutiny that the mutiny is stimulated
and prepared as an objection against injustices of the government. His statement
is opposite on what the other versions tell. It is not related but it is helpful to know
the reality between the other versions of the Cavite Mutiny.

3. Among the three versions of Cavite Munity, which one is most credible? Why?
 For me, the most credible versions among the three is from Jose Trinidad because
as what I read and search in the internet about the Cavite Mutiny, I found out that
the Filipinos are being abused and so that they planned for a revolution to have a
peaceful right, as what Jose Trinidad says in his versions.

1. Which account do you believe? And Why?


 For me, I believed the Cry of Pugad Lawin by Pio Valenzuelas, because he was
happened to be the eyewitness on the event that makes me believed. For me,
everything that had evidence is the correct one.

2. What makes Pio Valenzuela’s Cry of Pugad Lawin a controversy?


 It is because he claimed in the first version that The Cry was happened at
Balintawak, which he witnessed it by himself, but then again, after his death,
there is documents that tells about the Cry happened at Pugad Lawin which also
Pio wrote it. So, it is really controversy.

3. Give your reflection and reaction about the topic or issue.


 This topic The Cry means the beginning of the revolution made by the Filipinos
before against the Spanish Empire. This is a cry for freedom. It is beneficial for
Filipinos because it realized the lasting value of freedom and independence and
the need to fight in order to prove themselves worthy to be called a truly free
people.
