Load Calculation :

A. Dead Load
IS 875 Part 1
1. Wall Load
a) Wall height = 3.1m - 0.120 m = 2.98 m
b) Area = 0.150 m * 2.98 m = 0.447 m2
c) Unit wt of brick = 20 kN/m3
d) Wall load per metre = 0.447 * 20 = 8.94 kN/m (-Y)
e) For walls with window/ door = 70 % of 8.94 kN/m = 6.258 kN/m (-Y)
2. Parapet Wall Load
a) Height = 1m
b) Wall width = 0.150 m
c) Unit weight of brick = 20 kN/m3
d) Load per metre = 20 * 1 * 0.150 = 3 kN/m (-Y)
3. Floor Load
a) Pressure on floor = 25 kN/m3 * 0.120m = 3 kN/m2 (-Y)
b) Pressure on roof = 25 kN/m3 * 0.120m = 3 kN/m2 (-Y)
4. Floor Finish Load
a) According to IS 875 Part1
b) Intensity = 1kN/m2
c) We can decide not to finish the roof.
B. Live Load
IS 875 part 2
1. Floor Load
a) Hospital → Institutional Building
b) Wards/ rooms → 2 kN/m2 distributed pressure intensity.
c) Corridors → 4 kN/m2 distributed pressure intensity.
2. Roof Load
a) Assume Roof to be inaccessible
b) Thus 0.75 kN/m2 distributed pressure intensity.

Analysis Results:

Soil properties:
1) S1 layer
c=0 Φ = 30 ϒ = 20 kN/m3 Es = 24 Mpa μ = 0.2

2) S2 layer
c= 25 kN/m2 φ= 20 ϒ= 18 kN/m3 Es= 57 Mpa μ= 0.35

3) S3 layer
c= 15 kN/m2 φ= 35 ϒ= 18 kN/m3 Es= 48 Mpa μ= 0.3

Beam Column Size:

1) COLUMN MKD. SIZE (Meter) = C1 = 0.40 X 0.40

2) BEAM MKD. SIZE (Meter) = All beams = 0.40 X 0.60
Foundation Designs:
1. Isolated Footing
● constructed for a single column
● pad foundation
● square or rectangle
2. Combined Footing
● when two or more columns are close enough
● Their isolated footings overlap each other
● rectangle

CResult:
Conclusion:
Problem while we applied isolated footing is that footings overlapped. Hence Combined
footing is preferred over isolated.We designed for the footings.

Since isolated footings overlapped, we designed combined footing, which is more

economical.
