BMT International works in accordance with all
EU and national regulations, and is certified
according to ISO Standards 9001 and 14001. BMT
has successfully developed a ‘Total Care’
approach, which encompasses every facet of the
handling process. Each step in the process is
documented and that gives a clear view of the
final destination of the extracted mercury,
including HgS stabilisation.
During vacuum distillation, the volatile
substances are first evaporated under
vacuum conditions. The vapours of mercury, oil
and water are then condensed later in the process
and collected separately. The air-tight nature of the
process minimises the production of waste gasses
to a few m3/hr. Produced waste gasses are fed
through a cold trap and through several active
carbon filters, to eliminate all harmful gasses
before emission into the atmosphere.
