Lesson Plan Grade 9

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students will be able to;
a) listen to lay value judgment on critical issues that demand
sound analysis and call for prompt actions;
b) relates the material listened to real life experiences through
different activities;
c) give advice on an issue that needs attention.
d) Draw generalizations and conclusions from the material
listened to EN9LC-Ig-8.7
e) Reflect on the ideas of the song EN9LC-IIIb-6.3

 Review of the last topic
The teacher will ask remembering questions about the
previous topic.

2. What is the importance of listening?

B. Motivation
 The teacher will ask the students a question.
What is your favorite song? And how it is related to your life?
 The teacher will present the video presentation.
 After watching the teacher will ask the students.
How the speaker define war?
According to speaker what is the cause of war?
State what are the things we judge according to speaker.
According to speaker how to find peace and end the war?
Do you agree to the speaker’s message in the video?
C. Lesson Proper
 The teacher will play the audio recording of song Ebony and
Ivory.
 The teacher will ask the student about their insights about the
song.
 The teacher will ask the student to share their own
understanding on the meaning of the song.
 The teacher will discuss who is the writer of the song and
what is the inspiration of the writer.
 The teacher will discuss the song analysis and the step by
step procedure of conducting song analysis.
 The teacher will present the lyrics of the song and highlight
the figures of speech present in the song.

D. Generalization
 The teacher will ask the students raw of analysis questions.

2. What is the mood of the song?
3. What instrument did the song compare Ebony and Ivory to?
4. Why did the song compare Ebony and Ivory to the piano
keys?

6. What did the song try to suggest about peace?

E. Valuing

F. Evaluation
 The teacher will group the students in to four and ask the
students to use the tune of the chorus of the song, relate a
personal experience wherein you experienced discrimination
and tell why it was unfair.

G. Assignment
 The teacher will ask the students to make a slogan about why
discrimination must be stopped.
