EXTERNSHIP NARRATIVE REPORT

SECOND MONTH (LAUNDRY SECTION)

Laundry is a part of the housekeeping department. The daily task of the laundry section is to
wash the dirty uniforms that have been used by the employees and sometimes washing guest
clothes if there is guest laundry. Meanwhile, the special task is to clean the entire laundry area
which is done once a week. In the laundry section there are usually 3 work shifts, morning shift
(05 a.m - 03 p.m) middle shift (08 a.m - 06 p.m) and Afternoon Shift (02 p.m - 12 a.m). But for
trainees only placed in the morning shift. The machines in the laundry include:
 Washing Extractor 40kg
Used for washing uniforms and cloth. The uniform to be washed is selected
according to the color. To wash the cloth adjusted to the level of dirt.
 Washing Extractor 8kg
This machine is only used to wash guest laundry
Sort all the clothes into two parts:
 Soft and hard clothes
 Bright and dark clothes
For programe soft clothes need 27 minutes on wash,dry,rinse,dry and extract. As
for the hard cloth program is need 40 minutes.
 Tumbler Machine/Drying Machine
There are two methods in the drying program:
 Linen and towel have to program at 50 - 80 degree
 Clothes/laundry guest have to program at 40 - 60 degree
All item after drying process it must be to the next step for cooling 15
minutes minimum.
 Dry Cleaning
There are two methods of dry cleaning programs:
 Dry cleaning on bright color used tank number 2
 Dry cleaning on dark color used tank number 1
Dry cleaning is only for sutra,silk,will,kashmir. Don't use dry cleaning for nylon
poliester and silk screening.
 Pressing Machine
General pressing machine for all kind of clothes shirt,t-shirt,trouser,short,Scarf and
handkerchief.
