The essence of learning
ALEXANDRA JANE English Language

The English language is important in our lives

because it facilitates communication. It is the primary
language used to study any subject all around the world.
English is vital for us students because it broadens our
minds, helps us develop emotional abilities, and improves
our quality of life by giving us work chances. It also allows us
to observe things from a different perspective or to have a
better understanding of another culture. It assists us in
being a better listener. It may even be beneficial to one's
health, since studies have shown that those who speak two
or more languages have more active minds later in life.
Learning English language is challenging, but it can be a lot
of fun if we focus and take an interest in it.

REFLECTION FOR MELC 1
I'd really enjoy the first week of the first quarter. On this, I learned a lot of
new things that helped me grow as a student and as a person. Trustworthy
information will be very useful in our everyday lives, especially because there are so
many pages, publications, and people disseminating fake news that might lead to
misinformation. In this pandemic era, we must be extremely cautious about what we
believe and what we should not believe.
Having such information from news reports, speeches, informative talks,
panel discussions, and many more is immensely helpful in everyday conversations and
exchanges because we can use this information to be more aware of what is going on in
our surroundings and, of course, to be more knowledgeable about various things that
we need in our lives. By using information, we may discover what other people's
trustworthy perspectives are on a certain problem.

REFLECTION FOR MELC 2

Week two was still full of excitement because we finally had a group activity.
Bonding with those four people is quite uplifting, knowing that you can truly trust
them in such a group activity. On the other hand, the lesson we covered was really
simple, yet quite challenging. Determining the effects of textual aids such as
advanced organizers, titles, non-linear graphics, and many more on reading a book
was a fantastic learning experience for me. As a result, I will no longer be perplexed
about determining the precise text I am reading. I learned which textual aids will be
used in each type of text, as well as how to be more organized while using them so
that it is not confusing for the reader to know which is which.

MELC / WEEK 3
REFLECTION FOR MELC 3

Unlike the first and second weeks of the first quarter, the third week was
extremely challenging and difficult for me. I've disliked this topic in English since
I was in elementary school because I'm too impatient to read and evaluate a story.
Nonetheless, despite my impatience, I did my best to comprehend this topic. The
relevance of praising the unity of story, setting, and characters in a material seen is,
of course, to achieve the writer's aim or to express or tell us what the writer wants
to convey. Aside from that, I learned how to identify the elements of the story
more easily, and as a result, no time will be wasted merely determining them.

REFLECTION FOR MELC 4

Week 4 is light duty for me because I already know a lot about this topic. It
became easier because my group members were extremely helpful with our task. On the
other hand, contrasting and comparing the contents of the material viewed was
really helpful; as a result, I am able to determine what commonality lesson I may
acquire from both stories that I am contrasting and comparing. It is also important
in our daily lives because studying the similarities and differences between two
distinct people or items allows us to avoid criticizing them and grasp what
makes them special or unique.

REFLECTION FOR MELC 5

Week 5 is not as stressful for me as week 4 because I truly enjoy analytical

listening and problem solving. Still, we're having a lot of fun since we're doing group
activities again, and we also wrote a script, which I'm good at. It's my passion because I
used to write script stories before. When we are addressing an issue, analytical
listening is really important because it allows us to be a good listener. If we listen
carefully, we won't miss a single piece of information. As a result, we'll know
what to do or what solution we'll employ for a specific problem we're fixing.

MELC / WEEK 5
REFLECTION FOR MELC 6
Week 6 is a week I would never wish for. I'm only kidding. Kidding aside, this
week's topic is one that I despise because, as I stated in week 3, I am too impatient to
read long articles or topics. I got bored and frustrated when reading such a long piece of
news.Nonetheless, I did my best to surpass this week's goals with the help of myself and,
of course, my group mates. Even though I despise this subject, I cannot deny that it is
hypercritical, especially in this time of epidemic. When we are reading the news, we
must construct a set of criteria before trusting it since we never know if it is phony.
Untrustworthy news or statements may result in misinformation or disinformation,
which I am sure we do not want. As a corollary, please be cautious about
what you read or rely on.

REFLECTION FOR MELC 7

Week 7 is a lot of fun for me because I enjoy evaluating spoken texts, which I
think I'm really good at. I'm delighted because I was able to share my ability by writing
and delivering my own screenplay in a formal manner. This topic has helped me
become more sophisticated in how I present my speeches. If we employ four
criteria: fluency, tone, coherence, and correctness, our communication will be
more powerful and heard. As a consequence, listers will be more interested in
what we want to say because the way in which we deliver our thoughts has
piqued their interest.
