Essay on Local Govt's General Welfare Goals

Of all the listed General Welfare Goals, trim them down into 2 or 3 welfare goals that you think
may cover all the services for the community. Explain why you chose these welfare goals to be the
broad welfare goals for local government.

Welfare should be inclusive for all.

1. Development of appropriate and self-reliant scientific and technological capabilities

We are presently living in a period of fast transition. Technological advancements are

revolutionizing the way we live while also accelerating our descent into disaster in the form of
climate change and resource shortages. Despite the adverse effects of technology on the
environment, a recent increase in global concern about climate change has prompted the
development of new environmental technology. The said technology envisions assisting in
resolving some of the most pressing environmental issues that we face as a society by shifting to
a more sustainable, low-carbon economy. Multiple cycles occur regularly between the
environment and living organisms to keep nature's balance. However, if such cycles are disrupted
in any way, nature's equilibrium is also disrupted, which impacts our lives. In addition, human
activities and technology growth impact the natural environment, and we must all work together
to protect it. The rise of environmental consequences of climate change and new technologies that
can damage the environment, such as nanotechnology, genetically modified organisms, and
biofuels, has heightened these concerns. Local governments must invest in environmental
technology, also called "green" or "clean" technology. It refers to the creation of new technologies
to conserve, monitor, or reduce the negative effects of technology on the environment and resource
consumption.
2. Promotion of health and safety

There should be a system that includes regulations governing professionals, programs, and
behaviors that safeguard people's health and safety that Local Government Units (LGUs) must
consistently administer. If the community's health and safety are ensured, it must follow that the
welfare of all constituents is also established. The environment and humanity have an
interdependent connection in which each has an impact on the other. As a result, just as our actions
and decisions impact the environment, environmental conditions impact our health and well-being,
communities, families, and economy. We need clean air, water, plants, and food supply for our
health and well-being. Humans, animals, and other living things may grow and develop organically
in a healthy environment. When natural cycles run parallel to one other without interruption, we
refer to an ecosystem as healthy. Environmental and human health connections generate complex
ethical considerations about environmental rules and health policy decisions. Practices, rules, and
processes that protect the safety and well-being of anybody in the near vicinity must be included
in environmental safety plans. This might encompass everything from proper waste disposal to the
containment and storage of potentially dangerous compounds.

3. Improvement of public morals

Human qualities are remarkable to every person since not every person esteems every part
of life similarly. Human morals are the things that make a difference to individuals, and they use
them to evaluate activities and events. Putting it another way, individuals give worth to explicit
things and afterward utilize that worth to decide if something is appropriate or inaccurate.
Furthermore, emerging understanding raises specific moral considerations about people's
responsibility in terms of environmental stewardship. Environmental ethics and human values
outline how they influence our abilities to address the world's environmental issues. Moral
reasoning is widely acknowledged and crucial to the legitimacy of appropriate governance and
policy initiatives as analytical frameworks to test how moral reasoning underlies and legitimizes
climate change adaptation governance and practice. Thus, LGUs must ascertain to make their
entities to be good role models in upholding public morals.
