Question 2: In minimum 500 words, write about your reflections on this field-trip
The field trip is exhausting due to far location of Heineken factory from International
univeristy; however, it is very exciting. This is the first time I have ever visited a factory, and
I have learned a lot of new things from there. At first, we were welcomed in a lovely room
and the manager let us watch several short videos introducing Heineken company and its
strategies. I was astonished that Heineken, Tiger and Strongbow are produced by the same
company. After that, we were allowed to go around the factory under instructions. I was
surprised by the strict rules to keep saftey for workers here. Every time we passed the road,
each of us had to push the green button of the traffic light. We also had to keep going on the
yellow-coloured lines to avoid danger from lorries. Inside the brewery is hot and full of yeast
smell. A large-scale automatic production line system is controlled just by few staff. We also
learned some interesting information such as Heineken beer needs to be fermented in a
longer period of time than Tiger beer, so Heineken beer has to be held in horizontal tanks
before being moved to vertical tanks. Another thing that made me surprised was that the
wastewater treatment system is built in a “green” place with lots of trees. This wastewater
source is also used to water the tree and be the place for fish to live in. At the end of the trip,
all of us were instructed the right way to have a good-quality glass of beer and tasted the beer
glass made by our own hand. It was really fun. The field trip have brought me a lot of
memorable moments and useful knowledge for future.
