What is gender equality? These are equal rights of women and men.

Girls and boys

see gender inequality in their homes and communities every day – in textbooks, in the
media and among the adults who care for them.
Harmful gender norms are going on at the highest levels. In some countries, they
become entrenched in laws and policies that fail to uphold – or that even violate. In
Ukraine, the rights of women and men are gradually equalizing, but there is still an
opinion that a woman should cook in the kitchen and take care of children, and she
should not have enough time for self-realization. The current situation of women in
Ukrainian society is characterized by inequality. It exists in all areas of life.
Discrimination of people because of their gender is called sexism. Gender inequality
includes the main displays of sexism.
Supporting girls’ pathway from education to employment requires more than learning
opportunities. It requires keeping girls safe from all forms of violence, in and out of
school.
Now women are trying to perform male functions, taking over everything. Women
became strong and self-confident, and men, on the contrary, became infantile and
weak. You can often meet men who do not work or earn less than women. But this is
wrong, because everyone should live in equal rights.

To sum up, we can say that in Ukraine, as in the rest of the world, there is
discrimination against both men and women. Equality between women and men must
become a reality in the new democratic Ukraine, which plans to join the European
community. Factors that prevent women from achieving equality in society must be
identified, and measures must be taken to prevent gender discrimination.
