Forrest Gump (1994)

Reaction Paper
The movie I watched and has made an impact to me was entitled Forrest Gump. It is an American
movie that was aired in 1994 that has a touch of a classic touch of comedy, drama and life lessons. It is
actually based on a novel and was put into motion by Robert Zemicks guided by the written works of Eric
Roth. The movie is all about a man named Forrest Gump which is a man guided by his mother's lessons and
motivation. Although having a low I.Q., he lived his life depending and following what his mother said. He
is a man of simplicity and good nature and his life was turned into an adventure. He also puts a lot of his
trust, love and care to his childhood best friend named Jenny as they share their own struggles together. No
matter what situations Forrest were in, Jenny would keep on motivating him and also telling him that
sometimes it is okay to run in order to get through something.
I consider this movie as one of the best ever made and one of my favorite movies of all time. Having
Tom Hanks as the lead character is a perfect choice. I believe that this movie also made him famous.
Although it is an old movie, I would watch this again and won’t get tired of it. It has a touch of variety, a
story within a story. It’s also realistic and made me put myself into his place. One of the lines from the
movie that has made a huge impact to me is when Forrest saic, "life is like a box full of chocolates, you will
never know what you're gonna get...". The movie also highlights the relation of destiny and fate having the
white feather as their symbol as it glides through air freely. Also, it is shown in the movie how interactions
with people around us will greatly benefit us by learning through them and applying it to ourselves. The
movie teaches us that we hold our own destiny and it is for us to do something about it that may change its
course for good. It is worth the watch and will surely change how we perceive life after watching it.
